"Just Say No!" to the Bailout John McCain!

Before reading this, I want it understood, this is not the official position of www.letsgetthisright.com or anyone else, this is MY PERSONAL OPINION and does not represent my position as a staffer of www.letsgetthisright.com

American's need to stand up and tell John McCain to "Just Say No!"

If one reads just the title of the bill that was voted down yesterday it has absolutely nothing to do with the government’s attempted bail out to the tune of $700 Billion dollars. For those who are unaware here is the title of the "bailout bill"

BILL TITLE: To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide earnings assistance and tax relief to members of the uniformed services, volunteer firefighters, and Peace Corps volunteers, and for other purposes

(what the hell... how can anyone make heads or tails of that title referencing a bailout bill???)

No American should be in favor of this bail out - you don't fix a temporary problem within a capitalist economy with a permanent socialist solution. Hell, even 95 democrats agreed yesterday that the bailout is the WRONG solution.

This is one of those occasions where I DO NOT support the President’s position!

President Bush, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Rahm Emanuel,  John Murtha, Charlie Rangel, and a host of other liberals are in favor of this ridiculous bill, the Republicans who supported it should be ashamed and do not represent true conservative values.

In my own personal opinion, if John McCain wants to have any hope of winning the White House and thereby help Sarah Palin as a potential future President, he should immediately separate his position from that of the President, Secretary Paulson, Senator Obama, as well as the Democrats and Republicans who support the bailout.

I like McCain, I like Palin and they are the ticket I am supporting, but the folks at the top of the campaign who are giving them advice need to hush, stop pushing a bad agenda, and listen to the voice of the American people on this one and let John McCain and Sarah Palin act accordingly.

Let us, "We The People" figure out how to get this right, by allowing us to participate in the general economy to fix it over time, the bailout bill is the equivalent of using morphine to cure a bad flu bug, the cure is not only the wrong prescription, it is more deadly than the illness itself.

John McCain needs to be the Maverick that many Americans like, respect and are comfortable voting for.

Senator John McCain should immediately come out and "Just Say No" to the bail out and suggest the following or something very similar to it;

1. Suspend the Mark-to-Market Rule - If short selling can be suspended on 799 stocks (an arbitrary number and a warning of the rule by bureaucrats which is coming under the Paulson plan), the mark-to-market rule can be suspended for six months and then replaced with a more accurate three year rolling average mark-to-market.

2. Repeal Sarbanes Oxley - It failed with Freddy Mac. It failed with Fannie Mae. It failed with Bear Stearns. It failed with Lehman Brothers. It failed with AIG. It is crippling our entrepreneurial economy. I spent three days this week in Silicon Valley. Everyone agreed Sarbanes-Oxley was crippling the economy. One firm told me they would bring more than 20 companies public in the next year if the law was repealed. Its Sarbanes-Oxley’s $3 million per startup annual accounting fee that is keeping these companies private.

3. Match our competitors in China and Singapore by going to a zero capital gains tax - Private capital will flood into Wall Street with zero capital gains and it will come at no cost to the taxpayer. Even if you believe in a static analytical model in which lower capital gains taxes mean lower revenues for the Treasury, a zero capital gains tax costs much less than the Paulson plan. And if you believe in a historic model (as I do), a zero capital gains tax would lead to a dramatic increase in federal revenue through a larger, more competitive and more prosperous economy.

4. Immediately pass an “all of the above” energy plan - that is designed to bring home $500 billion of the $700 billion a year we are sending overseas. With that much energy income the American economy would boom and government revenues would grow.

5. Immediately DEMAND investigations - of those responsible for directly influencing the current economic situation due to either direct action or inaction, be they captains of industry, lobbyists or politicians and as McCain would say "make them famous" and let the FBI, the Justice Dept. and the Federal Court systems follow up from there.

None of these suggestions are new, they are supported by Conservative politicians and business men like New Gingrich (who actually made those proposals on Sept. 21st - See Forbes Magazine and National Review Online from that date) and there are also plenty of "hip and trendy" socially left "pop culture icons" like Donald Trump who favor the concept of "Just Say No" as well.

There is NO REASON for John McCain to support a bailout bill that both George Bush and Barack Obama support and 83% to 86% of Americans on both sides DO NOT support!

John McCain MUST be on the RIGHT side of history on this bill, I say call and email the McCain campaign, and his Senate offices and tell them to tell John McCain to "Just Say No!"

Barack Obama; the Audacity of Change

In terms of the political climate and the current election cycle Barack Obama sounds like a man who is bitterly clinging to his message of change while losing his cool.

His poll numbers are dropping, his frustration is showing, swing states and even some traditionally blue states like New Jersey are moving toward McCain and the Obama campaign just cannot seem to overcome the McCain - Palin mania that is now sweeping the country.

As further evidence of this, yesterday while on the campaign stump Senator Barack Obama made the following comment in reference to John McCain out of general frustration...

"He is just now starting to talk about change, and here I have been on the campaign trail talking about change for two years."

You know what.... I agree with you Barack you are 100% correct... you HAVE been TALKING about change for two years.

So where is it Senator Obama where is the change you have promised us sir?

What have you actually DONE in the last two years other than talk?

Where is the legislation you have written?

The legislation you have proposed?

The committees you have run?

Where are the reform bills?

The bills you have passed?

The taxes you have cut?

The companies you have helped to build?

The jobs you have created?

The troops you have brought home?

The wars you have ended?

The terrorists you have stopped?

The children you have educated?

The crimes you have prevented?

The people you have healed?

The unity in your party?

The woman on your ticket?

Where Barack?

Where is any positive change that you have created for the good of the American people?

Please tell me what have you actually accomplished?

TALKING about change is EASY; it is another thing to being doing something about it!

Senator Barack Obama...a man of many words...

I am John Barnhart of www.barnhartblog.com, www.letsgetthisright.com, and Host of the John Barnhart Show on the Heading Right Radio Channel, and I approved this message!

Investigators Turn Up Evidence of an Untold Sarah Palin Scandal

This is an important News Bulletin...

Govsar The Obama campaign, the drive-by media, and many liberal 527groups have sent thousands of folks into the Alaska wilderness searching for an untold Sarah Palin scandal in an attempt to derail the McCain - Palin ticket with an "October surprise".

For those who have not heard, here is the latest and trust me it is a shocker... Alaska Governor Sarah Palin had a tanning bed installed the Governor’s mansion.

I know what you are thinking, how could she... after we the people thought she was naturally tan and glowing all the time, but alas it is true. The Liberals have finally found a scandal that may stick.

After all, the American Cancer Society shuns the use of tanning beds and McCain himself has suffered from skin cancer! This scandalous story was first reported by Al Giodano's Narco News.

Apparently Governor Palin had it installed in the Governor’s mansion on her instruction, and a spokesman for the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Roger Wetherell, confirmed the story which then made it onto several political news Blogs including Real Clear Politics and Politico.com.

Oh... just one more thing... Mr. Wetherell also confirmed that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin paid for the tanning bed with her own money!

Liberals As each of us know the "Dali-Bama" has informed each of us that we must give up our addictions to things like "oil, cars, guns, prosperity, our money and The Bible."

So, in order to help Sarah Palin with her "addiction to tanning beds and Vitamin D" the Obama campaign sent advance team of "Liberal Ambassadors" to Alaska.

The advance team has gathered outside the Governor's Mansion in Juneau where at this very moment they have encircled the mansion, are holding hands and singing "Kumbaya" in an effort to ward off evil spirits and Vitamin D.

They are hopeful that Barack Obama otherwise known as "The One" is soon to arrive on the scene as only the "Dali-Bama" can so he can levitate the Governor's mansion and remove the cancer causing tanning bed from the structure thereby saving the Governors life and exorcising the demon vitamin D from her body.

An Accident by MSNBC?

0010504175107msnbcTonight as I was skimming through the TV channels on cable at 8pm CS, I noticed this little gem on (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) "The Mind of Manson."

Yet as I skimmed past the show what is (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) really showing?

An expose' on John McCain. Was it an accident, an oversight, a schedule mistake, sure possibly, but in light of how (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) is in the bag for Senator Barack Obama I doubt it; either that or it is very convenient for them and very convenient for the Obama campaign.

Needless to say I have sent a complaint to (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) and I encourage anyone else who reads this to do the same. (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) needs to shape up.

McCain Leads in the Polls; Obama Camp in Desperate Times

About 10 days ago I reported that the Obama camp was seeing their poll number slip to a 6% lead from what was at one point almost an 8% to a 9% lead. A little more than one week later and most polls have the race called as a dead heat and many have McCain up by 5% and the resulting desperation is showing in the Obama camp as they are starting to implode.

Here's how I came to that conclusion...

The announcement of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as John McCain's running mate sent shock waves through the Obama staff. They helped chose Delaware Senator Joe Biden to be Obama's running mate in order to help combat McCain's experience gap with Obama. In Joe Biden they had hoped to find an attack dog, an outspoken hawkish maverick that knows McCain well and could attack him with near impunity.

The problem is that McCain chose a younger, more vibrant, undaunted, as yet uncorrupted, successful middle-class Judea/Christian mother and Governor of the largest oil rich state to be his running mate. That choice in and of itself sent an aftershock through the Obama camp because it took away the large bounce that they expected after the Invesco Field speech where an estimated 85,000 people watched from the stands and another 35 million caught the spectacle on TV.

Since then Obama has taken a huge amount of heat for not selecting Senator Hillary Clinton to be his running mate, essentially leaving a gap in party loyalty, and many in the press questioning if the wheels have come off the Obama train.

In recent days numerous reporters, 527 groups, union investigators, private investigators, reporters and political operatives have landed in Alaska searching for a needle in a haystack, wanting to find that one damning piece of evidence to shoot Palin down in flames.

The problem is that the McCain camp has done their homework and vetted her very well. They knew about her husband’s DUI 20 years ago, they knew about her support of "Jews for Jesus", her attendance of an Evangelical Assembly of God Church, her Down Syndrome son, her 5 children, her union membership, her eldest daughters teen pregnancy, the firing of her brother in law who as a law enforcement officer was caught drunk on the job, her canceling the bridge to nowhere, the scandalous rumors of an alleged affair, her NRA membership, her outspoken nature, her beauty queen good looks, etc. etc. They knew it all, good and bad, true and untrue.

To make matters worse, Obama went on Fox News and was interviewed by Bill O'Reilly and did not hold his own. He was swiftly shredded by O'Reilly in regards to Iraq, Homeland Security, taxes, his associations with Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers and others.

Worse still Obama proceeded to make these statements about the McCain / Palin ticket "You can put lipstick on a pig, It's still a pig; you can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still going to stink."Those statements have caused a huge backlash as Obama is seen as losing his grip and practicing a rude brand of politics he swore he would avoid.

His frustration, desperation and anger is showing and growing rapidly and here is the latest...

A neurologist from Mt. Sinai Hospital is questioning Joe Biden's ability to serve as VP due to his two previous bran aneurysms, stating that it can cause dementia, fits of anger, loss of deductive reasoning, problems with motor functions etc. Some are suggesting that Biden should voluntarily leave the ticket and that Hillary Clinton replace him due to medical reasons.

In my opinion the interview with both candidates conducted at Rick Warren's Saddleback Church started the beginning of the McCain revolution but no matter whether it was his straight forward answers, his selection of Palin, her acceptance speech, or his that eclipsed Obama's by 500,000 viewers, for now the Straight Talk Express has the upper hand; I just hope the momentum continues.

Obama Opens Up to "Real Americans"

During an interview with Chris Wallace of the Fox News Channel a self described senior advisor to the Obama campaign Robert Gibbs made what I think is a great point that provides Americans with a very clear distinction between the Obama campaign and the McCain campaign. Robert Gibbs said "This speech is extremely important because it’s your one chance to speak to tens of millions of people and speak in an unfiltered way about your character, your views and where you want to take the American people." After which Gibbs also said "we real excited that we opened up this convention to real Americans."

To me this comment suggest two things; first that Obama is somehow going to take America somewhere different instead of allowing the people to tell the government and the President which direction it wants to move in and what we want, like an American energy independence policy, secure borders, fewer taxes, no government waste, etc. It also reveals the one sided nature of Barack Obama because by Gibbs saying that the convention is being "opened up to real Americans" it makes it sound as if anyone who does not attend or agree with the Dali-Bama's speech is not a "real American."

The nuances may be subtle but they are real and it once more reveals the complete and utter arrogance of this candidate and his staff.

Carville Says Democrats Wasted Everyone's Time

The Democrats claim to have the momentum. Bush's approval ratings are down, the war in Iraq has slowed but is still ongoing, gas prices are coming down but are still higher than American's would like, they have a majority in the Senate, the House, and they have a very popular dream candidate, a politician, rock star and potential Messiah wrapped in a nice neat little package... so with all that going for them, leave it to the Democrats to once more snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Last night's DNC convention was terrible. The speeches were flat, the sound was bad, the crowd was less than enthusiastic, the transitions were not smooth, James Carville declared it a "wasted first night" on CNN and even Michelle Obama herself, the celebrated speaker mispronounced her husband’s last name.

For me the classic part came when she had to "sniff back a boog" on national TV, when I saw that I almost fell out of my chair. I am not sure how many people caught it but it took place when "The Dali-Bama" appeared on screen to talk to her, his kids and the convention attendees. Perhaps John Stewart or Colbert will replay it on Comedy Central but the one thing everyone can see again is James Carville declaring the 1st night a waste, the video of it is available all over the web.

In his own words from CNN's Political Ticker... "The way they planned it tonight was supposed to be sort of the personal [side] Michelle Obama will talk about Barack Obama personally, Ted Kennedy was a very personal, emotional speech, but I guarantee on the first night of the Republican Convention, you're going to hear talk about Barack Obama, commander-in-chief, tax cuts, et cetera, et cetera."

"You haven't heard about Iraq or John McCain or George W. Bush, I haven't heard any of this. We are a country that is in a borderline recession, we are an 80 percent wrong-track country. Health care, energy, I haven't heard anything about gas prices, maybe we are going to look better Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, but right now, we're playing hide the message."

“If this party has a message it's done a hell of a job hiding it tonight, I promise you that."

Frankly James... that's why I don't waste my time watching the Democrats and instead have fun picking up the pieces the day after they flub it up. I'll give credit where credit is due, I recall watching the DNC when Clinton made his first run against Bush the elder and I commented to those in the room "there is the next President, it's over." Not because I liked Clinton mind you, but the DNC put on one hell of a show for the TV audience and perceptions matter. On that one night, for them, everything came together, and Bush the elder's "No new Taxes!" pledge that he broke (right or wrong) was beaten to death by the Dems all the way to the White House. It was smart politics.

The group of "socialist squirrels" running the DNC convention this year can't even manage to be "on message" not that they really have one to begin with. Their House Speaker is an amateur, their Senate Majority Leader is an amateur, and their candidate is an amateur... so for me the bottom line is this... the convention was obviously put together by amateurs... if Hillary Clinton doesn't come out and save the night for them and provide the "unity pony" they need, the Democrats are toast.

Obama Campaign Removes His Certificate of Birth from Website

Barack Obama's "Fight The Smears" website has now taken down and removed the "proof" of his Certificate of Birth that was supposedly from Honolulu, Hawaii.

Why?

Perhaps it is because when people started asking questions on the left and not just on the right the story took on a life of its own. Now with the lawsuit filed by Philip J. Berg in Pennsylvania the campaign has no choice but to come up with clear evidentiary proof of his Jus Sanguinis "Right of blood" that proves once and for all that Barack Obama is a US Citizen.

At issue is whether or not his mother Ann Dunham gave birth to Obama in the US in Hawaii, or whether or not his mother had him in Indonesia, Kenya or on some island off the Canadian coastline near Seattle and if so, did she file the required paperwork with the nearest US consulates office to certify him as her son and as a US citizen as required by law.

As I said on my last Blog and on the radio program the stories that abound about his birth and even Obama himself does not provide clear answers about it in his book. Each side of his family provide a different version of the story as well.

Regardless, whether the rumors that exist are true or not, because of the lawsuit filed yesterday, his campaign now has no choice but to resolve the issue before is destroys his candidacy.

Just as curious is the exact reason why they would remove a document that they have had on his "Fight the Smears" website for months.

Stay tuned... this story seems to have legs and it might just be the ace in the hole Hillar clinton was waiting for and why she only suspended her campaign and didn't fold her tent completely.

UPDATE - the certificate is once again back up on the site - http://my.barackobama.com/page/invite/birthcert

Lawsuit Filed Against Barack Obama - Is Barack Obama a US Citizen?

On last night's John Barnhart Show otherwise known as "The Lion's Den" on Blog Talk Radio we discussed the issue of Barack Obama's certificate of live birth and whether or not he meets the basic minimum requirements to be a Presidential nominee. The discussion was HOT on the telephone to say the least and was very timely.

For those who missed my radio show last night it is available on my website on the archives to the right or you can link to the show by going to www.blogtalkradio.com/stations/HeadingRight/BarnhartBlog

First, let me start off by saying that this is an issue in which there should be no question, and no discussion, it should be completely cut and dry, but it's not.

Just like many other things in the life of this candidate the stories surrounding his birth are as varied as the numerous many nicknames that I and hundreds of other radio talk show hosts and Bloggers have come up with for him.

"Dark Vader", "Czarbama", "Barack Millhouse NObama", "The Obamessiah", the "Dali Bama", "The One - The One", "Duh-bama", "Barack Snow-me-one-baloney" take your pick or create your own, eventually you will get the picture... even in his own books the candidate is not 100% completely crystal clear on his own origin and all the speculation, rumors, conspiracy theories and the lack of proof defining the real truth about him and his birth right to US or other citizenship has lead to a ton of controversy.

As for the timely manner of the show, listeners to my show and readers of my Blog should read this... Papers were indeed filed late yesterday in Federal Court and the complaint is asking for the court to declare that Barack Hussein Obama is not a US citizen, not a “natural born” citizen and not eligible under the qualifications of the US Constitution to run for the office of President of the United States.

In addition the filing is asking for an expedited discovery process and an injunction that would prevent him from accepting the nomination or from the process of the nomination going forward until if, and or when Barack Hussein Obama provide a certified copy of his Birth Certificate, and if or when he supply a copy of the oath he took to regain his citizenship.

It is worth noting that Obama still holds citizenship in Kenya by what are called "Jus Sanguinis" and "Jus Soli" which is to say "Right of Blood" and "Right of Soil" because his father was a citizen of Kenya and Obama has never renounced that right.

The plaintiff Phillip J. Berg is asking that the state of Hawaii release any and all birth records regarding Obama. Berg was at the courthouse late yesterday filing the complaint and it was completed at 4:45pm EST just 15 minutes before the clerk’s office closed.

The story was originally leaked by well-known and sometimes very controversial Clinton Blogger Larry Sinclair, upon hearing that he was the one who broke the story I hopped on my cellular phone and called the court to verify it.

I reached a court employee by the name of Steven Tomas who stated the following; "Yes it was filed, I did not read it but I am the one who signed it and yes it did have something to do with Barack Obama and his citizenship… that much I do know." Tomas further verified that "the judge will not be in to look at everything until a little later but yes it was filed and should be available to the public sometime around 12 noon EST once it is scanned in."

Below are the basic details of the filing:

Case #08-CV-4083

Plaintiff: PHILIP J. BERG Defendant: BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA, a/k/a BARRY SOETORO, a/k/a BARRY OBAMA , a/k/a BARACK DUNHAM, a/k/a BARRY DUNHAM THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEE, THE FEDERAL ELECTION COMMISSION AND DOES 1-50 INCLUSIVE

US District Court, Eastern District of PA 601 Market Street Philadelphia, PA 19106-1797 Ph: 215-597-7704

So now the question is for some... exactly who is Philip J. Berg?

Well, the answer seems to be clear... he is NOT a McCain operative... he is however a supporter of Hillary Clinton's.

The suit was not filed by the campaign itself but the timing and motivation of it being filed by a supporter prior to the Democrat convention in Denver is blatantly obvious; especially when so many Democrats are still declaring that they are "still waiting for their unity pony."

As for Berg, he is no friend of Republicans and he is certainly not a conservative.

Philip J. Berg is a former Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania; former candidate for Governor and U.S. Senate; an attorney with offices in Montgomery County, PA and still has an active practice in Philadelphia, PA. He is very well known for his filing of a 9/11 related lawsuit against President Bush and he asked "world leaders" to arrest President Bush and Vice-President Cheney for "global crimes against humanity" in connection with the terror attacks on 9/11.

Whether the guy is a "leftist wing-nut" is not in doubt, but he obviously knows enough about the law to tie up the courts, raise hell and make people's lives miserable for a while and there is no doubt in my mind that this is one of many "shots across the bow" of the sinking ship that is the "USS NObama" by Hillary Clinton or her supporters.

For anyone who wonders why there is a controversy regarding Barack Obama's birth right, place of birth or records of his birth in the first place... take a look at this document which is supposedly a certified copy, of his 1961 Certificate of Live Birth and is available on his own campaign website.

When you do, ask yourself these questions...

1. If it is real then why does it look "perfect" by 2008 computer standards instead of a document from 1961 that would have to be typed on a typewriter from that era?

2. If it is real then why does Obama claim that his mother was pregnant with him in November of 1960, which would be ten months before his birth?

3. If it is real then why was there so much confusion over what birthday he recently celebrated... some of his relatives said it was his 43rd, others said 45th still others said 47th?

4. Why has not one person from Hawaii come forward from the hospital to verify the event with documents in hand?

5. Why has the Obama campaign not put this to rest before now?

6. Where is the seal that certifies the certificate as real?

7. Why, since this is supposedly a public record, is the certificate number redacted by the Obama campaign on their "Fight the Smears" website?

8. Why was the candidate in Hawaii for two weeks on "vacation?"

To view a larger version you can link to the document here http://www.theobamafile.com/_images/ObamaBirthCertificate.jpg

Why I Call Barack Obama "Dark Vader"

Written By John Barnhart of www.barnhartblog.com

Everyone has taken to calling Barack something or another as a nickname, slap, satire, joke, etc. I support Mark Levin calling him Barack "Millhouse" NObama, and I like that some have started calling him "The Empty Suit", "Gumby", "Dark Man" and any number of other names.

As for me, I started calling him "Dark Vader" and here is why.

1. The Libtards like calling Dick Cheney "Darth Vader" so it is my slap back at them.

2. Darth Vader is a "cool character" from Star Wars sure... but he is a bad guy in reality who doesn't become "good" until he is gone. Frankly I see Barack the same way... having him leave the political scene would be a great thing for America.

3. Like Darth Vader, Barack has very little experience of any kind that qualifies him to be a leader, much less a source of inspiration.

4. Like the Vader character, he will lie and disappoint others to serve his own arrogant desires and outcomes.

5. Like Vader he desires only one thing... to change everything... and NOT for the better.

6. He has made every effort to keep himself, his past, his voting records, his core Marxist beliefs and his personal history in the dark. He hates having it exposed to the light of truth.

7. We cannot call him "Black" that would be seen as offensive or racist.. So to gig the leftwing Libtards I prefer to call him "Dark."

8. His economic policies would push the economy back into the dark, the dark ages that is. Cap and Trade, Double the Windfall Profits Tax, Expansion of the Federal Nanny State, no drilling for oil, no energy exploration, no support for Israel, no support for our military mission in Iraq, no support for our military in Europe, etc.

9. He wants to treat all of America like a farmer grows mushrooms... keep them in the dark and cover us with manure.

10. People have taken to calling Barack "The One", "The New Father of Our Country", "The New Messiah" but I like calling him "Dark Vader" because the idea of calling him "Darth Vader" from the movie was supposed to mean "Dark Father" and if Barack is supposed to be this country's "New Father" and he fits items 1 through 9 I listed previously, the name makes total sense to me.

What is the Strategy of the McCain Campaign

Originally published on www.barnhartblog.com

21mccainOver the past several months the McCain campaign has taken a ton of heat for the way they have handled the campaign. Some of the criticism has come from political analysts on the left but most of it has come from conservatives on the right. Laura Ingraham, Dick Morris, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and many others including me have questioned what the heck is going on; why has the McCain camp not gone on the attack, why have they ignored the conservative right, why are they courting the middle and the left?

What everyone wants to know if this; is the McCain campaign staff is totally off their rocker or is there some method to their madness? Are they out of touch with reality or is there a good reason why they have not called out Obama for his inconsistencies, for his insulting elitism, for his anti-American rhetoric, for his tax policies, his policies on energy, etc.?

Well, in my opinion the only reasonable deductions to make are these; either the McCain camp knew how to win the nomination but not the election and he is truly the next Bob Dole OR their strategy is as follows;

1.       Remain civil prior to the convention.

2.       Let the liberal media’s bias towards Obama take shape until it becomes extremely obvious and is called out and rejected. ***NOTE: Lou Dobbs of CNN called out and exposed the obvious bias last week on his show. Prior to that Saturday Night Live called attention to it

3.       Allow Obama to stay in the spotlight while he continues to make anti-conservative statements

4.       Allow Obama to continue to move away from his previous positions of getting the troops out of Iraq, not supporting FISA, being ant-gun, etc. As he moves to the center he will disillusion the voters who took Obama to be a “different kind of politician.”

5.       During this time McCain can afford to make a few minor mistakes because the focus will not be on him it will be on Obama.

6.       During the time between now and the convention the McCain camp can focus on moderate and independent voters and pick up as many of them as possible.

7.       At the convention, McCain can announce the selection of a very conservative politician, a well liked moderate with a more conservative record than his or an inspirational personality such as Colin Powell, or even former EBay CEO Meg Whitman to be his Vice-Presidential running mate.

8.       Allow Obama to beat himself and when he is down, then put the heat on by announcing the methods to balancing the budget, removing the troops from Iraq, and the development of an America First energy policy.

John_mccain_mackinac_island_2 Based on my own perspective of what it may take to beat Obama and what both campaigns are doing right now this seems to be the only plausible reason for the present postion of the McCain campaign. Either his advisors are completely inept or their strategy is similar to what I have outlined.

The McCain camp has to connect with the general public, with ordinary people who are paying high prices for food and gas, he has to connect with people who have lost their jobs or are living in fear of it, he has to connect with the middle-class voters that are sick of our country borrowing money from the Red Chinese to prop up our economy. If that is the strategy of the McCain camp, McCain will be the next President, if it isn’t heaven help us when a Marxist like Obama takes the oath of office.

Military Service and the Presidency; Why General Wesley Clark is Wrong

Originally published on www.barnhartblog.com

1756_wesley_clark Since the start of the 2008 Presidential election cycle a cloud of controversy has existed on the Internet in regards to John McCain’s war record. Whispers about the subject were heard when McCain ran for the Republican nomination previously but when he lost the nomination to George Bush, nothing came of it.

Last Sunday while appearing on CBS’ Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer, former 2004 Presidential candidate and Hillary Clinton supporter turned Obama adviser; General Wesley Clark (Ret.) brought the subject into the spotlight by questioning whether or not military experience qualifies a person to be President.

Clark's comments tossed gasoline onto a subject that has remained dormant in the media for most of the year while Bloggers have debated it in a very heated manner.

Since John McCain is the target of the controversy I thought it best to outline the 4 schools of thought in regards to his military service and they are as follows;

1.   Many left leaning political analysts, pundits and Bloggers question the “fairness” of McCain's campaign using his military experience to validate his character and qualifications, especially since the two most likely Democrat nominees, Clinton and Obama, lacked any military experience.

2.   John McCain’s supporters contend that his military service, his time as a P.O.W., his medals and military leadership experience easily qualify him as a war hero and that McCain should use his military service to his full advantage during the campaign

.

3.   Then there are a few on both the far-right and the far-left who insist that McCain is a traitor because while in captivity and under extreme duress he revealed his mission, he signed documents for the North Vietnamese which were used to certify him as a war criminal and those documents were used as propaganda tools against the US government and other P.O.W.'s. Because of those actions some have gone so far as to say McCain is no different than actress, protester and Communist sympathizer Jane Fonda.

4.   Finally, there are those on who acknowledge McCain’s service but say it in no way qualifies him to be Commander-in-Chief.

What follows is my personal commentary on the matter…

A)  The first school of thought is absolutely stupid and only an idiot with Socialist or Marxist views would make such a suggestion. No person with half a brain should ever suggest that a candidate not discuss their military experience simply because it might not be fair to other candidates who don’t.

B)   John McCain has every right to discuss his military service in an open and honest fashion. His campaign should talk about it openly so voters get a much better sense of how his military service shaped his character

.

C)   I get “McCain is a traitor” emails every week from loud mouths on both sides; I receive them from Obama supporters who use it to excuse Obama’s Marxism, the former John Kerry supporters use it as “pay-back” for the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth attacking Kerry in 2004 for his controversial war record and testimony before congress in the 70’s, and then there are the far out conspiracy nuts who think the C.I.A. killed Kennedy in 1963 and have run a puppet government ever since.

All three of those nitwit types need a swift kick in the behind. I dare say that none of them could stand the kind of pain and mental anguish McCain endured in North Vietnam. Every human has a mental, physical, spiritual and emotional breaking point, McCain reached his after years of horrible abuse, torture and neglect. I can't begin to imagine what John McCain survived.

The only people who have even the slightest reason to hold a grudge against McCain are those who were strong enough to endure an equal or greater amount of torture in the Hanoi Hilton but never signed a propaganda statement. Only God truly knows what those men went through, that said, those few who hold a grudge against McCain should make efforts to temper any comments with wisdom, humility and compassion. They need to remember that after McCain finally did break after four straight days of torture he resisted any further temptations despite efforts to the contrary. His stubborn resistance landed him in solitary confinement for two years

.

D)  Those who say they respect McCain’s military service but do not recognize it as a valid Presidential character trait should review American history.

Mccain_flagWe have had 43 Presidents, 31 served in the military prior to being President; 30 were officers, 24 served in the US Army or a state militia, 6 were in the Navy, 1 was in the Air Force. Of the 31 Presidents with military experience only 1, Thomas Jefferson, served at a time when the US was not involved in a conflict of some kind. For those keeping score, even Franklin Roosevelt served this country in a civilian capacity as Secretary of the Navy during World War I, counting his service he would be number 32. Of the 11 remaining Presidents with no record of military service, historians generally agree that 6 of them represent administrations which either under-achieved on their stated goals, left office under a cloud of scandal or both

.

Buscar With that said, I concede that military service is not a prerequisite for President and it is not a predictor of success or failure, some Presidents with military experience are considered to be unsuccessful in achieving their full potential.

Democrats would likely point to the current Bush administration’s unfavorable ratings in regards to oil prices, the lack of economic stability, the money spent on Iraq, and the failure to find and kill Osama Bin Laden.

On the other hand Republicans would likely point to Jimmy Carter as an example of a woefully poor Democrat President because of his mishandling of the Iran hostage crisis, the dismantling of the military and his short sighted economic policies.

I believe there are three reasons why so many American Presidents have had military experience.

1.  Americans recognize that all were willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice if needed.

2.  Americans believe the military is an excellent place for a person to observe, learn and practice leadership skills.

3.  Americans believe that candidates with military experience will take the oath to defend the nation seriously and will not hesitate to use America’s military if necessary.

Seal_2When Wesley Clark said on Sunday "I don't think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to become president" he not only discounted John McCain’s military service, he discounted his own military service, the service of millions of veterans, and he discounted the military service of 31 Presidents as if it has no value at all.

Military service is a common experience shared by 74% of American Presidents, anyone who ignores that historical fact and places no value in it is simply in denial.

The Latest Liberal Strategy; I'm Rubber You're Glue!

Originally published at www.barnhartblog.com

Practically everyone has said it at one time or another when they were a child in the midst of a confrontation; in the sandbox, at recess, or on the playground..."Nananana booboo, stick your head in doodoo, I'm rubber you're glue, anything you say bounces off me and sticks to you!"

What sounded okay when I was 5 or 6 would sound a bit ridiculous if I were to say it at age 40 while in the middle of a political discussion; but that is exactly what liberals are doing in this age of political correctness. Liberals are in the midst of conducting a war of words based on childish ideas in an effort to paint conservatives as out of touch, greedy, racist and evil.

Bjs1_3 Just today I received an email from yet another Democrat Massachusetts State Representative with a negative reaction to my Blog. Representative Benjamin Swan read my Blog about Obama arrogantly creating his own version of the Presidential seal for use on the campaign trail and then responded by calling me “small-minded.”

What I cannot figure out is if Massachusetts State Representative Benjamin Swan called me “small minded” because I think what Obama did was arrogant, because I am conservative, or because Massachusetts State Representative Benjamin Swan is trying to insinuate that my comments about Obama’s arrogance are racially motivated.

Matt_patrick_3 Last week Democrat Massachusetts State Representative Matthew Patrick responded by not only incorrectly stating that right wing conservatives have controlled the country for the last 30 years, but then bashed southern states by saying… “the southern states that lead in every negative category there is."

Of course I sent both of them emails asking them to clarify their comments, because one seemed to be playing the race card, while the other appears to reveal anti-southern hostility. They have not responded so I will be calling their offices in an effort to try and get them to do so. These two incidents are not isolated, they just happen to be from liberal Democrats who are Massachusetts State Representatives. Classy isn't it?

As a conservative Blogger I get hate mail every day from people who constantly are preaching about civility and tolerance, but then practice neither.

Take a few minutes to scan through www.huffingtonpost.com sometime, the amount of rude and filthy trash talking there goes far beyond the regular name calling and satire that should be on a "professional" political Blog.

Personal attacks are nothing new; when conservatives call the philosophy, judgment, broken-promises, policies, actions and inaction of liberals into question via editorials, talk radio, cable news, or the alternative media (like Blogs) liberals will immediately go on the attack demonizing their target in a suggestive manner.

Here are some other great examples:

Ronreagan1_4 May 13, 2008 MSNBC commentator Ron Reagan Jr. is asked by Chris Matthews to provide his thoughts on Obama losing to Hillary Clinton in West Virginia, his response was “I think the better question to ask is what is wrong with West Virginians?”

Imagine that, an ultra-liberal attacking moderates and more conservative blue-dog Democrats for thinking and believing the way they want to instead of endorsing the candidate he thinks they should.

Where are the tolerance, unity and inclusiveness in that?

Don't West Virginians have the right to support who they prefer, or must they all bend their knees and pledge support to who the left coast liberals tell them they must?

That very same night MSNBC commentator Chris Matthews made a similar comment “you could have predicted the outcome on this one 20 years ago…” both of them snickering afterwards.

What they were suggesting but aren’t brave enough to come out and say plainly is that West Virginians voted in favor of Hillary Clinton instead of Barack Obama because they are either (take your pick) uneducated, inbred, or racist; yet another classy stereotype from those self-absorbed wind bags.

Schrismatthewslarge_2 Chris Matthews is famous for saying that when he hears Barack Obama speak he "feels a thrill going up his leg"; what Chris Matthews doesn't realize is that when Barack Obama speaks conservatives feel something too; it's Barack "Tax-Man" Obama reaching into our pockets and we aren't exactly thrilled about it. That is why we don't support the man.

Liberal commentators are not the only ones getting into the act, oh no... Barack Obama has use his mild mannered speechifying to express the same racially charged sentiments.

Cn_obama_dw_politik_171960g_4 April 12, 2008 San Francisco, California Barack Obama made this statement about gun owners and Christians “You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them…And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Many in the media have focused solely on the “guns and religion” portion of Barack Obama’s quote; however, when taken in total his comment suggests that  someone who has lost their job might take their frustration out on an immigrant by shooting them and then using their religious beliefs or economic situation  to justify it.

Tb_obama_450_3 June 20, 2008 Jacksonville, Florida at a Democrat fundraiser Barack Obama himself plays the race card when he makes the following statements in reference to the kind of campaign Republicans were going to run against him. "We know what kind of campaign they're going to run. They're going to try to make you afraid. They're going to try to make you afraid of me. He's young and inexperienced and he's got a funny name. And did I mention he's black? We know the strategy because they've already shown their cards. Ultimately I think the American people recognize that old stuff hasn't moved us forward. That old stuff just divides us.”

What Barack Obama and others on the ultra-left are doing is placing everyone who disagrees with Barack Obama’s Marxist beliefs into one group and labeling them as racists and bigots. Quite a surprising strategy from a man who claimed he was going to transform politics and the nation; "We're going to reshape America in a way that is less mean-spirited and more generous."

Uh… yeah right… sure he is… by calling conservatives racists for disagreeing with his Marxist philosophy and politics Barack Obama isn’t providing “Change We Can Believe In” but he does represent change... “Change We Can’t Trust.”
