"Just Say No!" to the Bailout John McCain!

Before reading this, I want it understood, this is not the official position of www.letsgetthisright.com or anyone else, this is MY PERSONAL OPINION and does not represent my position as a staffer of www.letsgetthisright.com

American's need to stand up and tell John McCain to "Just Say No!"

If one reads just the title of the bill that was voted down yesterday it has absolutely nothing to do with the government’s attempted bail out to the tune of $700 Billion dollars. For those who are unaware here is the title of the "bailout bill"

BILL TITLE: To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide earnings assistance and tax relief to members of the uniformed services, volunteer firefighters, and Peace Corps volunteers, and for other purposes

(what the hell... how can anyone make heads or tails of that title referencing a bailout bill???)

No American should be in favor of this bail out - you don't fix a temporary problem within a capitalist economy with a permanent socialist solution. Hell, even 95 democrats agreed yesterday that the bailout is the WRONG solution.

This is one of those occasions where I DO NOT support the President’s position!

President Bush, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Rahm Emanuel,  John Murtha, Charlie Rangel, and a host of other liberals are in favor of this ridiculous bill, the Republicans who supported it should be ashamed and do not represent true conservative values.

In my own personal opinion, if John McCain wants to have any hope of winning the White House and thereby help Sarah Palin as a potential future President, he should immediately separate his position from that of the President, Secretary Paulson, Senator Obama, as well as the Democrats and Republicans who support the bailout.

I like McCain, I like Palin and they are the ticket I am supporting, but the folks at the top of the campaign who are giving them advice need to hush, stop pushing a bad agenda, and listen to the voice of the American people on this one and let John McCain and Sarah Palin act accordingly.

Let us, "We The People" figure out how to get this right, by allowing us to participate in the general economy to fix it over time, the bailout bill is the equivalent of using morphine to cure a bad flu bug, the cure is not only the wrong prescription, it is more deadly than the illness itself.

John McCain needs to be the Maverick that many Americans like, respect and are comfortable voting for.

Senator John McCain should immediately come out and "Just Say No" to the bail out and suggest the following or something very similar to it;

1. Suspend the Mark-to-Market Rule - If short selling can be suspended on 799 stocks (an arbitrary number and a warning of the rule by bureaucrats which is coming under the Paulson plan), the mark-to-market rule can be suspended for six months and then replaced with a more accurate three year rolling average mark-to-market.

2. Repeal Sarbanes Oxley - It failed with Freddy Mac. It failed with Fannie Mae. It failed with Bear Stearns. It failed with Lehman Brothers. It failed with AIG. It is crippling our entrepreneurial economy. I spent three days this week in Silicon Valley. Everyone agreed Sarbanes-Oxley was crippling the economy. One firm told me they would bring more than 20 companies public in the next year if the law was repealed. Its Sarbanes-Oxley’s $3 million per startup annual accounting fee that is keeping these companies private.

3. Match our competitors in China and Singapore by going to a zero capital gains tax - Private capital will flood into Wall Street with zero capital gains and it will come at no cost to the taxpayer. Even if you believe in a static analytical model in which lower capital gains taxes mean lower revenues for the Treasury, a zero capital gains tax costs much less than the Paulson plan. And if you believe in a historic model (as I do), a zero capital gains tax would lead to a dramatic increase in federal revenue through a larger, more competitive and more prosperous economy.

4. Immediately pass an “all of the above” energy plan - that is designed to bring home $500 billion of the $700 billion a year we are sending overseas. With that much energy income the American economy would boom and government revenues would grow.

5. Immediately DEMAND investigations - of those responsible for directly influencing the current economic situation due to either direct action or inaction, be they captains of industry, lobbyists or politicians and as McCain would say "make them famous" and let the FBI, the Justice Dept. and the Federal Court systems follow up from there.

None of these suggestions are new, they are supported by Conservative politicians and business men like New Gingrich (who actually made those proposals on Sept. 21st - See Forbes Magazine and National Review Online from that date) and there are also plenty of "hip and trendy" socially left "pop culture icons" like Donald Trump who favor the concept of "Just Say No" as well.

There is NO REASON for John McCain to support a bailout bill that both George Bush and Barack Obama support and 83% to 86% of Americans on both sides DO NOT support!

John McCain MUST be on the RIGHT side of history on this bill, I say call and email the McCain campaign, and his Senate offices and tell them to tell John McCain to "Just Say No!"

9/11 My Exclusive Interview with Retired CIA Agent Michael Scheuer, The Osama bin Laden Task Force Leader

Michael_scheuer First, many thanks to former CIA Agent and head of the bin Laden task force, Michael Scheuer, for granting me an exclusive interview with him on the 7th anniversary of 9/11; especially since prior to the interview Michael had just completed a very full day of teaching two courses at a secure location, if he was exhausted, tired or drained in any way he indicated no signs of it on air.

He was, is, and always will be a very busy man, and the fact that he continues to teach, write, advise, and help others try and understand Islamic Jihad, its motivating factors, its leaders and how best to combat them is a testament to his patriotism.

Michael Scheuer was an outstanding, enthusiastic, and extremely informative guest. For those who did not have the opportunity to hear the interview, PLEASE listen to it in the archives on this website (see the far right column) of www.barnhartblog.com or by going to http://www.blogtalkradio.com/headingright/barnhartblog

Thanks to my loyal listeners, Blog readers and the new folks who visited the broadcast last night; the audience was more than double its normal size which I greatly appreciate.

Michael Scheuer's responses to the questions asked of him completely dispute the claims made by former President Bill Clinton, former Fist Lady now Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton,  former National Security Adviser Samuel Richard "Sandy" Berger, and Richard "Dick" Clarke the Chief Counter-terrorism Adviser to the National Security Council.

Michael Scheuer revealed that the actual number of opportunities to capture or kill Osama bin Laden priot 9/11 were many more than anyone has ever previously publicized, and he detailed the reasons for some of the worst decisions made by the Clinton White House and the tragic mistake made by CENTCOM (Central Command) under President Bush at Tora Bora.

Osamabinladen1998thumb Here are just some of the highlights of what we discussed...

Was 9/11 an inside job?

How many times did the Clinton administration "drop the ball" and decide not to capture or kill Osama bin Laden?

Were there financial interests that ever stopped us from capturing of killing Osama bin Laden?

How many opportunities did the Bush Administration have to capture or kill Osama bin Laden after 9/11 and why did they fail?

Is Osama bin Laden a crazy mad man and a lunatic or is he a cold calculating well educated idealist?

Is Osama bin Laden actually suffering from Diabetes, Kidney failure, or anything else that requires dialysis?

Which is better, capturing Osama bin Laden, or killing him and why?Can Barack Obama "invade" Pakistan to hunt for Osama bin Laden?

Where is Osama bin Laden now?

Why can't we kill Osama bin Laden at the moment?

If we were to kill Osama bin Laden how would could we best accomplish it?

What if anything is wrong with the Bush administration's policy of "Afghanistan First, Iraq Second?"

Was there any direct or indirect connection between 9/11 and Iraq or Iraq and Al-Qaeda?

Can the recently proposed "Quiet Surge" in Afghanistan work?

How much money does Osama bin Laden have access to?

Where does Osama bin Laden's money come from and how diversified is his income?

Why did he (Michael Scheuer) resign from the CIA in 2004?

Who is more dangerous to the United States, Al--Qaeda, Red China, Imperialist Russia, Shiite lead Iran, or Saudi Arabia and why?

Michael Scheuer has said "Senators Clinton, Obama and McCain are all "clueless" as to what motivates Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda but Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul get it" so we asked why is that a true statement?

In light of that statement and in light of Michael Scheuer writing papers for and appearing with Ron Paul who is he supporting for President?

Those were just a few of the issues covered with Michael Scheuer in my exclusive interview with him last night on the 7th anniversary of 9/11.

I ask that you listen to the interview, download it and then share it with your friends; what Michael Scheuer had to say was very revealing, informative, and enlightening. He has agreed to return in the future for a full two hours so this one hour interview was just the very tip of the iceberg but regardless, it should not be missed.

If you have any questions for Michael Scheuer I would be very happy to forward them to Michael and then report his response.

9/11 Anniversary Exclusive Guest - former CIA Agent in charge of the Osama bin Laden Unit, Michael Scheuer

101256718465404 Tonight, exclusively on my "Heading Right" radio show on the anniversary of 9/11 my very special guest is the former CIA Agent/Analyst in charge of the efforts to locate, track, capture or kill Osama bin Laden prior to 9/11 and after, Michael Scheuer

.

Michael Scheuer is a former CIA agent and analyst. In his 22-year career, he served as the Chief of the Osama bin Laden Task Force and bin Laden Station (aka "Alec Station"), from 1996 to 1999, the Osama bin Laden tracking unit at the Counterterrorist Center. He then worked again as Special Advisor to the Chief of the Osama bin Laden unit from September 2001 to November 2004.

In his books and in many interviews he has detailed at least 10 cases where the Clinton administration refused to capture or kill Osama bin Laden when they had the ability to do so easily. Scheuer resigned in 2004 frustrated with both the Clinton and Bush administration's inability to either capture or kill Osama bin Laden prior to and after 9/11.

He is currently a news analyst for CBS News and a terrorism analyst for The Jamestown Foundation's online publication Global Terrorism Analysis. He also teaches a graduate-level course on Al-Qaeda at Georgetown University and participates in conferences on terrorism and national security issues, such as the New America Foundation's December 2004 conference, "Al Qaeda 2.0: Transnational Terrorism After 9/11."

He has appeared on Larry King, Hardball, Countdown, Meet the Press, Hannity & Colmes, Brit Hume's Special Report, and also The O'Reilly Factor, Michael has appeared on multiple Discovery, History and National Geographic Channel Specials including "Inside 9/11."

Michael Scheuer authored the books

"Through Our Enemies' Eyes: Osama Bin Laden, Radical Islam & the Future of America"

"Imperial Hubris: Why the West is Losing the War on Terror"

"Marching Towards Hell: America and Islam After Iraq."

Even Osama bin Laden commented on his last video tape sent to the US Government in 2007 “If you want to know why you are losing the war on terror read Michael Scheuer's book Imperial Hubris.”

Michael Scheuer is my very special guest tonight on the anniversary of 9/11 from 7pm to 9pm CST.

The call in number is 347-826-9560.

Matthews and Olbermann Replaced by David Gregory

This article is from the NY times and includes areas highlighted on The Liberty Lounge.

(Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) tried a bold experiment this year by putting two politically incendiary hosts, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, in the anchor chair to lead the cable news channel’s coverage of the election.

That experiment appears to be over.

After months of accusations of political bias and simmering animosity between (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) and its parent network NBC, the channel decided over the weekend that the NBC News correspondent and (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) host David Gregory would anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night. Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Matthews will remain as analysts during the coverage.

The change — which comes in the home stretch of the long election cycle — is a direct result of tensions associated with the channel’s perceived shift to the political left.

“The most disappointing shift is to see the partisan attitude move from prime time into what’s supposed to be straight news programming,” said Davidson Goldin, formerly the editorial director of (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) and a co-founder of the reputation management firm DolceGoldin.

Executives at the channel’s parent company, NBC Universal, had high hopes for MSNBC’s coverage of the political conventions. Instead, the coverage frequently descended into on-air squabbles between the anchors, embarrassing some workers at NBC’s news division, and quite possibly alienating viewers. Although (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) nearly doubled its total audience compared with the 2004 conventions, its competitive position did not improve, as it remained in last place among the broadcast and cable news networks. In prime time, the channel averaged 2.2 million viewers during the Democratic convention and 1.7 million viewers during the Republican convention.

The success of the Fox News Channel in the past decade along with the growth of political blogs have convinced many media companies that provocative commentary attracts viewers and lures Web browsers more than straight news delivered dispassionately.

“In a rapidly changing media environment, this is the great philosophical debate,” Phil Griffin, the president of MSNBC, said in a telephone interview Saturday. Fighting the ratings game, he added, “the bottom line is that we’re experiencing incredible success.”

But as the past two weeks have shown, that success has a downside. When the vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin lamented media bias during her speech, attendees of the Republican convention loudly chanted “NBC.”

In interviews, 10 current and former staff members said that long-simmering tensions between (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) and NBC reached a boiling point during the conventions. “MSNBC is behaving like a heroin addict,” one senior staff member observed. “They’re living from fix to fix and swearing they’ll go into rehab the next week.”

The employee, like others, spoke on condition of anonymity because the network does not permit it people to speak to the media without authorization. (The New York Times and NBC News have a content-sharing arrangement exclusively for political coverage.)

Mr. Olbermann, a 49-year-old former sportscaster, has become the face of the more aggressive MSNBC, and the lightning rod for much of the criticism. His program “Countdown,” now a liberal institution, was created by Mr. Olbermann in 2003 but it found its voice in his gnawing dissent regarding the Bush administration, often in the form of “special comment” segments.

As Mr. Olbermann raised his voice, his ratings rose as well, and he now reaches more than one million viewers a night, a higher television rating than any other show in the troubled 12-year history of the network. As a result, his identity largely defines MSNBC. “They have banked the entirety of the network on Keith Olbermann,” one employee said.

In January, Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Matthews, the host of “Hardball,” began co-anchoring primary night coverage, drawing an audience that enjoyed the pair’s “SportsCenter”-style show. While some critics argued that the assignment was akin to having the Fox News commentator Bill O’Reilly anchor on election night — something that has never happened — (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) insisted that Mr. Olbermann knew the difference between news and commentary.

But in the past two weeks, that line has been blurred. On the final night of the Republican convention, after (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) televised the party’s video “tribute to the victims of 9/11,” including graphic footage of the World Trade Center attacks, Mr. Olbermann abruptly took off his journalistic hat.

“I’m sorry, it’s necessary to say this,” he began. After saying that the video had exploited the memories of the dead, he directly apologized to viewers who were offended. Then, sounding like a network executive, he said it was “probably not appropriate to be shown.”

In an interview on Sunday, Mr. Olbermann said that moment — and the perception that he is “not utterly neutral” — restarted months-old conversations about his role on political nights.

“I found it ironic and instructive that I could have easily said exactly what I did say, exactly when I did say it, if I had been wearing a different hat, and nobody would have taken any issue,” he said.

“Countdown” will still be shown before the three fall debates and a second edition will be shown sometime afterwards, following the program anchored by Mr. Gregory.

The change casts new doubt on what some staff members believe is an effective programming strategy: prime-time talk of a liberal sort. A like-minded talk show will now follow “Countdown” at 9 p.m.: “The Rachel Maddow Show,” hosted by the liberal radio host, begins Monday.

Mr. Griffin, MSNBC’s president, denies that it has an ideology. “I think ideology means we think one way, and we don’t,” he said. Rather than label MSNBC’s prime time as left-leaning, he says it has passion and point of view.

But (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) is the cable arm of NBC News, the dispassionate news division of NBC Universal. MSNBC, “Today” and “NBC Nightly News” share some staff members, workspace and content. And some critics are claiming they also share a political affiliation.

The McCain campaign has filed letters of complaint to the news division about its coverage and openly tied (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) to it. Tension between the network and the campaign hit an apex the day Mr. McCain announced Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) had reported Friday morning that Ms. Palin’s plane was enroute to the announcement and she was likely the pick. But McCain campaign officials warned the network off, with one official going so far as to say that all of the candidates on the short list were on their way — which (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) then reported.

“The fact that it was reported in real time was very embarrassing,” said a senior (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) official. “We were told, ‘No, it’s not Sarah Palin and you don’t know who it is.’ ”

Tom Brokaw and Brian Williams, the past and present anchors of “NBC Nightly News,” have told friends and colleagues that they are finding it tougher and tougher to defend the cable arm of the news division, even while they anchored daytime hours of convention coverage on (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) and contributed commentary each evening.

Mr. Williams did not respond to a request for comment and Mr. Brokaw declined to comment. At a panel discussion in Denver, Mr. Brokaw acknowledged that Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Matthews had “gone too far” at times, but emphasized they were “not the only voices” on MSNBC, according to The Washington Post.

Al Hunt, the executive Washington bureau chief of Bloomberg News, said that the entire news division was being singled out by Republicans because of the work of partisans like Mr. Olbermann. “To go and tar the whole news network and Brokaw and Mitchell is grossly unfair,” he said, referring to the NBC correspondent Andrea Mitchell.

Some tensions have spilled out on-screen. On the first night in Denver, as the fellow (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) host Joe Scarborough talked about the resurgence of the McCain campaign, Mr. Olbermann dismissed it by saying: “Jesus, Joe, why don’t you get a shovel?”

The following night, Mr. Olbermann and his co-anchor for convention coverage, Mr. Matthews, had their own squabble after Mr. Olbermann observed that Mr. Matthews had talked too long.

Some staff members said the tension led to the network’s decision to keep Mr. Olbermann in New York for the Republican convention, after he ran the desk in Denver during the Democratic convention. (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) said that he stayed in New York to anchor coverage of Hurricane Gustav. But some workers say there were other reasons — namely, that Mr. Olbermann was concerned about his safety in St. Paul, given the loud crowds at MSNBC’s set in Denver.

NBC Universal executives are also known to be concerned about the perception that MSNBC’s partisan tilt in prime time is bleeding into the rest of the programming day. On a recent Friday afternoon, a graphic labeled “Breaking News” asked: “How many houses does Palin add to the Republican ticket?” Mr. Griffin called the graphic “an embarrassment.”

According to three staff members, Jeff Zucker, chief executive of NBC Universal, and Steve Capus, president of NBC News, considered flying to the Republican convention in Minnesota last week to address the lingering tensions.

Up to now, the company’s public support for MSNBC’s strategy has been enthusiastic. At an anniversary party for Mr. Olbermann in April, Mr. Zucker called “Countdown” “one of the signature brands of the entire company.”

Just last year, Mr. Olbermann signed a four-year, $4-million-a-year contract with MSNBC. NBC is close to supplementing that contract with Mr. Olbermann, extending his deal through 2013 — and ensuring that he will be on (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) through the next election.

Obama Opens Up to "Real Americans"

During an interview with Chris Wallace of the Fox News Channel a self described senior advisor to the Obama campaign Robert Gibbs made what I think is a great point that provides Americans with a very clear distinction between the Obama campaign and the McCain campaign. Robert Gibbs said "This speech is extremely important because it’s your one chance to speak to tens of millions of people and speak in an unfiltered way about your character, your views and where you want to take the American people." After which Gibbs also said "we real excited that we opened up this convention to real Americans."

To me this comment suggest two things; first that Obama is somehow going to take America somewhere different instead of allowing the people to tell the government and the President which direction it wants to move in and what we want, like an American energy independence policy, secure borders, fewer taxes, no government waste, etc. It also reveals the one sided nature of Barack Obama because by Gibbs saying that the convention is being "opened up to real Americans" it makes it sound as if anyone who does not attend or agree with the Dali-Bama's speech is not a "real American."

The nuances may be subtle but they are real and it once more reveals the complete and utter arrogance of this candidate and his staff.

Carville Says Democrats Wasted Everyone's Time

The Democrats claim to have the momentum. Bush's approval ratings are down, the war in Iraq has slowed but is still ongoing, gas prices are coming down but are still higher than American's would like, they have a majority in the Senate, the House, and they have a very popular dream candidate, a politician, rock star and potential Messiah wrapped in a nice neat little package... so with all that going for them, leave it to the Democrats to once more snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Last night's DNC convention was terrible. The speeches were flat, the sound was bad, the crowd was less than enthusiastic, the transitions were not smooth, James Carville declared it a "wasted first night" on CNN and even Michelle Obama herself, the celebrated speaker mispronounced her husband’s last name.

For me the classic part came when she had to "sniff back a boog" on national TV, when I saw that I almost fell out of my chair. I am not sure how many people caught it but it took place when "The Dali-Bama" appeared on screen to talk to her, his kids and the convention attendees. Perhaps John Stewart or Colbert will replay it on Comedy Central but the one thing everyone can see again is James Carville declaring the 1st night a waste, the video of it is available all over the web.

In his own words from CNN's Political Ticker... "The way they planned it tonight was supposed to be sort of the personal [side] Michelle Obama will talk about Barack Obama personally, Ted Kennedy was a very personal, emotional speech, but I guarantee on the first night of the Republican Convention, you're going to hear talk about Barack Obama, commander-in-chief, tax cuts, et cetera, et cetera."

"You haven't heard about Iraq or John McCain or George W. Bush, I haven't heard any of this. We are a country that is in a borderline recession, we are an 80 percent wrong-track country. Health care, energy, I haven't heard anything about gas prices, maybe we are going to look better Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, but right now, we're playing hide the message."

“If this party has a message it's done a hell of a job hiding it tonight, I promise you that."

Frankly James... that's why I don't waste my time watching the Democrats and instead have fun picking up the pieces the day after they flub it up. I'll give credit where credit is due, I recall watching the DNC when Clinton made his first run against Bush the elder and I commented to those in the room "there is the next President, it's over." Not because I liked Clinton mind you, but the DNC put on one hell of a show for the TV audience and perceptions matter. On that one night, for them, everything came together, and Bush the elder's "No new Taxes!" pledge that he broke (right or wrong) was beaten to death by the Dems all the way to the White House. It was smart politics.

The group of "socialist squirrels" running the DNC convention this year can't even manage to be "on message" not that they really have one to begin with. Their House Speaker is an amateur, their Senate Majority Leader is an amateur, and their candidate is an amateur... so for me the bottom line is this... the convention was obviously put together by amateurs... if Hillary Clinton doesn't come out and save the night for them and provide the "unity pony" they need, the Democrats are toast.

The Audacity of Obama; From Crescent to Cross

Originally published on www.barnhartblog.com

One side says he is a Christian and that he is not now, nor has he ever been a Muslim; the other side says once a Muslim, always a Muslim.

To those on the right who are trying to equate all Muslim’s with the terrorists of radical Islam, shame on you, not all Muslims are radicals. To those on the left who are trying to gloss over and lie about Barack Obama’s past because they are fearful of the implications his being a Muslim many years ago might have, shame on you too.

For the record, Barack Obama is a Christian who believes in and practices a variation called Black Liberation Theology. It is a major break from the more traditional Church of Christ doctrine taught in 99% of the churches in his denomination, but it is indeed a version of Christian theology.

With that said, Barack Obama was at one time in his life a Muslim. As much as he or others want to try to distort, deny or ignore it, there are official documents which confirm it, his past teachers have confirmed it, his relatives have confirmed it, reporters have confirmed it and his own books confirm it.

While on the stump he stopped in at a local eatery in a town called Pleasantville where Obama was asked about his religious beliefs by an elderly voter, he responded "I've always been a Christian, I have never practiced Islam."

What bothers me is that he feels the necessity to lie about his previous status as a Muslim. I don't have a problem with him ever being a Muslim, I have a problem his decision to lie about it, his attempts to try and hide it, and the mainstream media refuses to press him as to why is he lying.

Obama_school_formWhen reading or listening to his autobiography "Dreams from My Father” he clearly states that he studied the Quran. While in Jakarta, Indonesia he was enrolled in two different schools, the first one he attended was Islamic, the other was Catholic, but the records at both schools identify his religion as Islam.

Obama was born in 1961; in 1971 at the age of ten he was enrolled at Besuki Primary School under the name “Barry Soetoro” and his school records identify his religion as Islam, he was a student there for two years.

While there, Tine Hahiyary was one of his teachers and the Principal clearly remembers “Barry [Obama] practiced his Mengaji”, which is the recollection and recitation of the Quran in Arabic.

One of his classmates, Rony Amiris, specifically recalls that “Barry [Obama] was previously quite religious in Islam.  His birth father, Barack Hussein Obama was a Muslim economist from Kenya. Before marrying Ann Dunham, Hussein Obama was married to a woman from Kenya who had seven children.  All the relatives of Barry's father were very devout Muslims.”

Besuki_primary_school_2  Another classmate, Emirsyah Satar, said “Barry [Obama] was often found in the prayer room” and Barack Obama’s half sister Maya is quoted as saying that “when the family attended communal religious events at the Mosque he [Obama] would occasionally follow his father inside for Friday prayers.”

Nicholas Kristof is a well educated and well traveled New York Times Op-Ed writer and an author of several books about the ever changing economic conditions in Asia, specifically China and Japan. Mr. Kristof conducted an interview with Obama which appeared in the New York Times. During the interview Barack Obama said this “the morning call to prayer is one of the prettiest sounds on Earth." Kristof later remarked “Obama recited the morning call to prayer known as the Adhan, with a first class Arabic accent.”

Below are the words of the Adhan in Arabic and in English:

Allahu Akbar
Allah is Great
(said four times)

Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah
I bear witness that there is no God except the One God (Allah).
(said two times)

Ashadu anna Muhammadan Rasool Allah
I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.
(said two times)

Hayya 'ala-s-Salah
Hurry to the prayer (Rise up for prayer)
(said two times)

Hayya 'ala-l-Falah
Hurry to success (Rise up for Salvation)
(said two times)

Allahu Akbar
Allah is Great
[said two times]

La ilaha illa Allah
There is no God except the One God (Allah)

Barack Obama has the right to be Christian, Jewish, Mormon, Muslim or even an Atheist but as a candidate for President lying about his religious conversion is wrong. In Barack Obama’s own words he has said "I've always been a Christian, I have never practiced Islam” but that statement is not the truth.

Barack Obama’s statement denying his past religious experience as a Muslim is the equivalent of President George W. Bush saying this about his potential past drug use “We had some pretty wild parties back in the day and I just don’t remember” or former President Bill Clinton saying this about his potential past drug use, “when I was in England I tried marijuana a time or two but I didn't like it, I never inhaled, and I never tried it again.”

Why doesn’t Barack Obama want to admit that at some point in his life he experienced a religious conversion?

Most people who convert from one religion to another use their experience as part of their testimony.

Is Barack Obama ashamed of his Christian witness and testimony, or does he fear that some people will wrongly associate him with radical Islam?

Whatever the reason is, if Barack Obama finds it so easy to lie about something as deeply personal as his religious conversion from Islam to Christianity, voters should ask themselves and the media should ask him, what else is he lying about?

The Audacity of Obama Part II The New Messiah will be published 5PM CST Today.

  Originally published on www.barnhartblog.com

I spent weeks researching the material for my "Audacity of Obama" series because I wanted to be sure that quotes used in the piece were able to be attributed to him, staffers and supporters or that the most controversial content could easily be debunked by a website like Snopes.com or even Obama's own "anti-smear" website.

The article being auto-published at 5PM CST today is entitled The Audacity of Obama; the New Messiah. As a follower of politics the article is interesting, as a Christian, the article is stunning, I fully expect the content of the article to make readers do a double take.

Please know that I did everything I could to debunk the most controversial content in the article, but was unable locate a website or an Obama staffer that was willing to confirm or deny the story.

I do know that the story did eventually make it to “The Lark” a site which produces political satire much like “The Onion” or “The People’s Cube” but the odd thing is that the Obama camp won’t deny the most controversial content in the story. Exactly why they won't is up for speculation. Personally, I wished they would because I find the content troublesome.

The Audacity of Obama Part II The New Messiah will be published 5PM CST Today.

In the interim I wanted to respond to people who have asked why I removed the advertisers from www.barnhartblog.com; the reasons for the change were simple.  With fewer "widgets" on my Blog it loads faster, it is easier to do the layout, it is easier for people to read, and because it allows me to concentrate on the content of the site instead of which advertisers are paying off and which ones are not.

Barack Obama; As Arrogant as He Wants to Be

Originally published on www.barnhartblog.com

In his books and speeches Obama clings to the story that he is a poor man with very humble beginnings, he was impoverished, picked himself up by his boot straps and seized the American dream. He portrays himself to be the essential rags to riches candidate who believes in unity, fairness and has humble altruistic beliefs.

Last week Barack Obama once again stepped out of the shadow of his own selfless rhetoric and into the spotlight of his own personal sunshine revealing himself to be exactly what many of us believed him to be long ago; an arrogant, naïve, snob, with Marxist leanings who attempts to hide his sense of personal entitlement and quietly militant views behind his flowery speeches.

Amd_obamaseal Last week Barack Obama revealed his own version of the Great Seal of the President of the United States which he took a lot of heat for from the press. The Obama campaign now says it will never be used again and claim it was meant to be used just one day, yet they told “The Atlantic.com” something different, they told their representatives that it would be used throughout the campaign.

Sounds similar to other issues and incidents where Obama has had to find a way to separate himself for political expediency or risk drowning in his own arrogance for maintaining a position, or a relationship; Reverend Wright, Tony Rezko, Father Pfleger, William Ayers, Samantha Power, Jim Johnson, Rob Malley, his wife’s ties to Hamas charity “Kindhearts”, Obama’s ties to Hamas fundraiser Hatem El-Hady, women in head scarves who were asked not to stand behind Obama because they would appear Muslim on TV, specific white people who were asked to stand behind Obama because more whites needed to be seen on TV, his wife’s ties with Wal-Mart and Tree House foods which shut down multiple plants where mostly Hispanics worked, his position on unconditional talks with Iran, Venezuela, Syria, N. Korea, pulling the troops out of Iraq immediately, providing drivers licenses to illegal aliens, etc. the list is becoming extensive and the incident with the Presidential Seal is just the latest.

What’s the Most Important Issue in America? It’s Energy Independence, STUPID!

Originally published on www.barnhartblog.com  Capitol_dc

When in the blue blazes is Congress going to get it…the most important issue this election year is not the Iraq war, global warming, universal healthcare, abortion, or any other typically liberal cause-celeb, it is energy independence, PERIOD!

It impacts our ability to provide a strong national defense, it impacts the ability of every company large and small to do business in a cost effective manner, it impacts the price of every good and service, and it impacts the ability of Americans to save, invest, spend, and just get back and forth.

Fossilfuel_2 Like it or not this country and the rest of the earth is completely dependent on oil, petroleum, natural gas, coal and other fossil fuels. We use fossil fuels in the production of plastics, masonry, synthetic fibers, lubricants, solvents, medicines, health and beauty products, they help heat our homes and power the vast majority of our vehicles.

Unless you live in a cave, bare naked with no modern tools it is literally impossible to eat, drink, sleep, work or take a dump anywhere in the civilized world without being touched by oil or fossil fuel products directly or indirectly in some way.

Liberal_boy So when I hear liberal politicians, actors, activists, and other “progressive voices” say “yes we can” to getting rid of oil, petroleum, coal, natural gas and the use of other fossil fuels I wonder what planet they are from and what drug they are on.

Anyone who says “yes we can” to the elimination of the worlds dependence on oil and other fossil fuels is not blind, they are not ignorant, they are not uninformed, they are 1000% OUT of TOUCH, CRAZY, DUMB and STUPID!

They should be permanently blindfolded, gagged, put in a straight jacket and tossed into a deep dark hole never to be seen or heard from again.

Old_hippie_very_old_hippies_1 Anyone who says “yes we can” rid ourselves of the use of oil and other fossil fuels is a waste of space and are sucking up the oxygen the rest of the sane people in the world need to live and use to power our brains.

Almost as ridiculous are those who say “no we can’t” to opening up more areas for the exploration of oil and other fossil fuels because it won’t pay off for ten years, it might hurt polar bears, it might damage the environment, yada, yada.

They are the same people that 40 years ago started smoking dope, injecting heroin and taking LSD on a daily basis to “open their minds”, “expand their consciousness” and “free themselves from the shackles of institutional repression.”

They tuned in, turned on, dropped out and became totally brain dead. To this day many of them still live in a psychedelicfantasy world of cellophane rainbows, unicorns and fairies, so why anyone listens to and believes their unrealistic horse manure is beyond me. At the present time we cannot eliminate the world’s need for oil and other fossil fuels any more than a person could catch a fart and paint it purple.

Well380 What we can and should do is explore, drill, and refine the oil and other fossil fuels available to us in the United States while we also expand the use and reduce the cost of other energy sources.

We MUST increase the supply to meet the demand in our own country. If we want to be more secure we need to put ourselves in a position to where we no longer need to constantly suckle at the breast of foreign governments who could yank the nipple from our mouths without warning.

My wife and I recently took a trip thru several central Texas towns with a long history of oil production, the majority of the pumping stations were active, but some were not and there is no excuse for it. There are millions of acres of land that oil companies have access to where they can explore and drill, they should be doing it.

AnwrCongressional leaders also need to open up areas like ANWR, the US coastline, the Rockies, and Montana for exploration. Ten years ago Bill Clinton eliminated oil leases in more than thirty five locations around the US, using the argument that it takes ten years to obtain oil and fossil fuels from an explored area we would have billions more barrels of oil available to us right now than we do. By the way, many engineers and executives involved in the energy business have tried to dispel the rumor that it takes 10 years to get oil to the market. The reality is that in some cases it would take less than 12 months, some 3 years, 5 years and other 10 or 12 years. It depends greatly on the location, the source, the extraction and refining methods.

We are presently the number 3 producer of oil and fossil fuels in the world, and we have more than enough oil and fossil fuels available to us to be energy independent for several centuries. There is no excuse for the current cost of oil, gas, food, and other items in the US, we have the ability to positively influence our economy and the value of the dollar and we should be doing it.

That said, we cannot drill our way out of our dependence on oil and fossil fuels but we also cannot tax our way out of it either.

Technology exists that is better and more efficient than using gasoline based combustion engines and we must increase our development of them if we want to reduce their cost and once again be the innovative industrial powerhouse we were during the last 100 years.

We must encourage the research and development of biological renewable crude oil by companies like LS9. See link - http://www.ls9.com

Biofuel We must encourage the research and development of synthetic fuels, sugar cane and hemp bio-fuels, we must develop wind, hydro-electric, nuclear and solar power plants where we can. We should expand the production of electric and hydrogen powered and hybrid vehicles and retrofit parts so they are less expensive and more affordable.

Increased taxes on “big oil” will only raise the cost for consumers, and reducing the demand for oil and fossil fuels does not reduce the price because they are used in too many products. In fact, the demand for oil and gas has gone down in the US over the last year by 1% to 2% and prices have greatly increased, and that is because the supply is too low. As long as the supply is low hedge fund speculators will continue to put up 10% of the cash needed to buy oil futures from each other, oil companies will continue to raise their prices, and the artificial market will continue to exist putting our economy in danger of crashing.

520statueflag Blame who you want for the current predicament we find ourselves in, as I have said before there is more than enough blame to go around, but if your neighbor, friend, local, state, federal legislator or presidential candidate does not grasp the concept of why it is so important for our country to be 100% energy independent send them a copy of my Blog and let me help you tell them…the most important issue facing America today…It’s Energy Independence, STUPID!

Part 4 - The Audacity of Lies; The Democrats Monumental List of Broken Promises

Part 3 - The Audacity of Lies; the Democrats Monumental List of Broken Promises

Dem_party_seal_2 This was originally posted on www.barnhartblog.com

This year Barack Obama is promising America "Change We Can Believe In" and it sounds great but before you take Obama at his word, review the 3rd part of my Blog Series "The Audacity of Lies; the Democrats Monumental List of Broken Promises."

It details how the Democrat party promised Americans they would change Washington D.C. in 2006 if we would only put them in charge.

Well...we did, they lied, and we are all paying the price for trusting them. Don't take my word for it, read the promises Democrats made to America and then judge on your own if they did or did not fulfill their promise provide change, to lower gas prices and make us energy independent.

Promise: “Democrats have a plan to lower gas prices…join Democrats who are working to lower gas prices now.” Then Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Press Release, April 19, 2006

Broken Promise: The average price of gasoline is now $4.05 cents a gallon and oil is now $140.00 per barrel.

Barnhart Blog Observation: This week the US Senate tried to pass a bill that would have increased windfall profit taxes on oil companies and the oil companies would have passed that cost on to consumers. Last week, Senate Democrats tried to pass the Cap-and-Trade "Climate Security Act" which would have added an immediate $1.50 tax increase to the price of every gallon of gas. Luckily, Republican Mitch McConnell saw it for what it was, started a filibuster on the Democrat money grab and put a stop to both of pieces of liberal legislation.

Promise: “Democrats promise to hit the ground running on energy issues if they win control of the House or Senate. Responding to voters’ concerns about $3-a-gallon gasoline and the soaring cost of home-heating oil, Democratic leaders in both chambers have ranked energy as one of their top priorities for the next Congress.” – “Energy Reserving a Front Burner,” National Journal, September 9, 2006

Broken Promise: “House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) issued a clear directive soon after Democrats took control of Congress this year, promising a comprehensive energy and climate change bill on the House floor by the Fourth of July. But with five legislative work weeks to go before that deadline, House Democrats are still left with the task of cobbling together a bill from as many as 11 committees…As for the deadline itself, a House Democrat aide close to the process said the package will not arrive on the House floor before the July Fourth recess.” “Energy Policy Moving on Multiple Fronts,” Energy & Environment Daily, May 18, 2007.

Hippiepelosi_3 Promise: “The most urgent environmental issue facing us today is global warming.” Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) “A New Direction for America,” Page 9

Broken Promise: “Pelosi Says Global Warming Bill Might Wait Until Next Year” Headline, Congress Daily PM, June, 1, 2007.

Barnhart Blog Observation: The reason for her delay…Pelosi was hoping that the Cap-and-Trade "Climate Security Act" would pass in the Senate while the rest of America was asleep at the wheel and being hypnotized by the Democrat primary race. No such luck Nancy, we reject the idea of being taxed for helping you balance the budget while paying for the myth of "solving the climate crisis."

The idea that "We Can Solve It" is ridiculous. There is NOTHING to solve. Bush, Gingrich, Lieberman, Warner, McCain and others who claim to be conservatives should be ashamed for buying into the climate change hocus pocus.

Economists and scientists and even United Nations reports show that to change the temperature of the earth by just two degrees Celsius would cost $26 TRILLION US Dollars, for just $5 Trillion we could give every adult in the world a basic college education and since it is a lack of education that helps create poverty, wouldn't that be a better endeavor to spend our money on?

Gorepoot1s_2 Besides, even if we all listen to liberal ding-bat Al Gore, his book details statistics that global warming is only going to go up at most 1 degree over the next 100 years. If that is what all the concern is over then let’s use a few million dollars and buy everyone on the earth air conditioning. There is no reason for us to be so stupid and keep listening to climate change alarmists. Damn people ... have you forgotten all the climate change baloney of the 70's, 80's, 90's not to mention the phony Y2K scare?

Anyone who says they believe in global warming, global cooling, or climate change, please ... do me a favor ... go sit in a pumpkin patch on Halloween night next October, if you do I promise the Great Pumpkin will arrive at midnight and bring you candy and toys, I swear.

Promise: “To free America from dependence on foreign oil, we will achieve energy independence for America by 2020 by eliminating reliance on oil from the Middle East and other unstable regions of the world.” Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) “A New Direction for America,” Page 6

Broken Promise: During the first year of the Democrat-controlled Congress, no energy independence legislation has been passed by the House, much less sent to the President’s desk. But 228 Democrats voted to impose more than $6.5 billion in new taxes on small and independent American energy producers, which will lead to less domestic supply, higher prices for consumers, and an increase in America’s dependence on foreign sources. Roll Call Vote #40, January 18, 2007.

Barnhart Blog Observation: The cost of gas and other fuels and energy sources not to mention food is much higher than it was in 2006 and 2007. Democrats are pointing fingers at “Big Oil” for the rise in fuel prices but truth be told, liberal hedge fund investors like George Soros are investing in oil speculation but the Democrats are not going after hedge fund speculators ….because they donate to liberal candidates and political organizations 2x or 3x the amount of money they donate to conservative candidates and organizations.

Before you start pointing fingers at "Big Oil", Bush, Cheney, Halliburton, Exxon or anyone else, go check out Madison Avenue and Wall Street and start knocking on the doors of oil speculators, the same companies that helped to create the Dot-Com and Real Estate busts of the past are now over inflating the market value of oil.

Promise: “Besides encouraging the bio-fuel market and infrastructure, it also aims to encourage coal-to-liquids as an alternative fuel through the U.S. military’s purchasing power. The majority leader said the bill is complementary to the rural working group’s bio-fuels act and has the support of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman John Dingell, D-Mich.” “US Representative Hoyer: $15B Energy Bill Outlines House Democrats’ Plans,” Dow Jones, March 1, 2007

Broken Promise: “The coal-to-liquids amendment showcased the difficult debate ahead for Democratic leaders as they try to craft multiple bills this year dealing with energy and global warming. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calf.) is not an advocate of coal-to-liquids plants…” “Coal-to-Liquids Vote Caps House Energy Markup,” Environment & Energy Daily, June 21, 2007

Promise: “Our New Direction will send our energy dollars to the Midwest, not to the Middle East.” Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) “A New Direction for America,” Page 9

Broken Promise: “The Rahall energy bill proposes a systematic stripping of provisions from the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPAct) that aimed to increase access for new energy development on federal lands.” “Independent Oil Producers Ally with Wind against Rahall’s Energy Bill,” Energy Washington, June 6, 2007.

Pelosinozone_2 Barnhart Blog Observation: Massachusetts is just one among many other states including Alaska, California, Arizona, Idaho, Texas, Montana, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, Louisiana, Virginia, Minnesota that have asked for the right to either drill for oil, produce coal oil, shale oil, hemp fuel, sugar cane fuel, or open wind, solar or nuclear power plants that are still being denied by Congress, all while we all are forced to pay $4.05 a gallon for gasoline. More than a year after Democrats took power in Congress; no comprehensive energy reform has happened and virtually no energy bills were sent to the President.

Liberal environmentalist nuts and others, who have caved to global warming or climate change nonsense, have refused to drill for oil in ANWR or in states who have asked for more ability to drill in their borders. Montana alone has enough shale oil and coal oil available to last us 40 years.

Obama_empty_box_2 Promise: “Double the percentage of renewable fuels sold in America. Make sure that… cellulosic sources, such as switch grass are a key part of that increase.” Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) “A New Direction for America,” Page 10

Broken Promise: “Currently, according to the ethanol industry’s list of producers in the United States, none of the ethanol comes from cellulose and even if commercial plants can be built, the process may still prove too expensive to compete with corn ethanol.” “Will Cellulosic Ethanol Take Off?” Technology Review, February 27, 2007.

Barnhart Blog Observation: The only thing Congress did in reference to increasing Ethanol production was dictate that more of our fuel supply should come from Ethanol corn. You might say that seems to make sense, we need more fuel and Democrats see themselves as the only friend that farmers have, so helping farmers by giving them an increase in the Ethanol fuel subsidy is a good compromise. Well, not exactly. Ethanol does come from corn, but it is not extracted from the same corn crops used to feed animals or humans, but since farmers were provided a government subsidy to plant more Ethanol corn, that was what they did. As a result, there is less corn for animal feed and even less for use in other products used or consumed by humans. It seems congress has yet to figure out that when people are given an incentive to do something, they will usually do it. I know if the price of gas was lower, millions of Americans would have more money to save, invest or use to buy goods and services. No wonder our economy is in such terrible shape right now.

Promise: “Democrats stand for… finding meaningful solutions to our energy crisis. We will make America more competitive and not heap mountains of debt on future generations.” Then-Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Press Conference, June 16, 2006

Broken Promise: “The main challengers to U.S. economic power – Brazil, Russia, India and China – have overtaken the United States in dominating the global energy industry, according to a new study by Goldman Sachs.” Study: “‘BRICs’ Overtake U.S. in Energy,” Associated Press, Tuesday, June 26, 2007.

House Democrats weakened U.S. energy competitiveness by voting to repeal the American-energy production initiatives crafted by Republicans as part of the 2005 Energy Policy Act and instead replacing them with new bureaucratic roadblocks that undermine efforts to increase domestic energy supplies for consumers in the future. Roll Call Vote #40, January 18, 2007

Barnhart Blog Observation: Brazil is using fuel made from sugar cane and is now energy independent. Cuba, China and Venezuela are “slant drilling” for oil off of the US coastline and are therefore obtaining oil that is actually under American territorial waters. The US could be growing industrial sativa hemp, and it alone could produce 4x the amount of ethanol and other bio-fuels than corn, flax or sugar cane.

Promise: “We have a strong commitment to research and development.” Then-Minority-Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Press Conference, September 7, 2006

Broken Promise: As part of the FY 2008 Interior Appropriations bill, Democrats voted to eliminate the Ultra-Deepwater and Unconventional Natural Gas Research and Development Program created by Republicans in 2005 and utilized by petroleum engineers at 23 major research universities and four non-profit research institutions. – H.R. 2463, FY 2008 Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, Roll Call Vote #579, June 27, 2007

Obama_promise_3  Promise: “Senate Democrats are renewing their effort to require electric utilities to produce more power from renewable sources such as wind and solar. . . Many House Democrats . . . are on record supporting a renewable standard . . . House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. . . . ‘Believes we need to increase the amount of electricity that comes from renewable sources in the United States above where we are today,’ a Pelosi aide said.”“Senate Democrats See Opening for Renewable Standard,” Congressional Quarterly Green Sheets, May 25, 2007

Broken Promise: “Wind energy advocates say the House Democrats’ bill could significantly cripple the burgeoning industry, and they brand the measure ‘anti-wind.’ A release from the American Wind Energy Association last month said the House Democrats’ plan could ‘essentially outlaw’ the generation of electricity from new wind power plants in the United States.” “A Pesky proposal for Wind Power Plants,” Associated Press, June 4, 2007

Promise: “Democrats will energize America by declaring energy independence … That is our commitment.”  Then-Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Annual 2006 Take Back America Conference, June 14, 2006

Broken Promise: During their first six months, House Democrats have declared only that they are incapable of governing when it comes to matters such as energy policy. Instead of passing comprehensive legislation as promised to make America less dependent on foreign energy sources, House Democrats have offered legislation that would make energy independence more difficult by dissuading U.S. refiners from investing billions to expand refining capacity to meet rising demand. Instead of lower prices . . . the legislation could cause higher prices by unintentionally capping or restricting domestic refinery capacity.” “Wrong Direction,” Houston Chronicle Editorial, June 24, 2007

Promise: “As the U.S. chases larger oil supplies, we are failing to notice the flashing neon signs pointing to the potential of our most abundant domestic energy resource – coal. Liquefaction and gasification technologies are available right under our noses. They are being used with success by some of our most assertive foreign economic competitors who recognize the folly of dependence on oil and are doing something about it. It’s time we did as well.” Then-Ranking Member of the House Resources Committee, Rep. Nick Rahall (D-WV), Press Release, April 26, 2006

“With a nation hard and fast on a petroleum diet for decades to come brought forth by the pending legislation, the widespread commercialization of coal-to-liquids technology to fuel our vehicles will continue to be an elusive goal. I have never forsaken the coal miners in my Congressional District, and I am not about to do so now.” Then-Ranking Member of the House Resources Committee, Rep. Nick Rahall (D-WV), Floor Statement, June 29, 2006

Broken Promise: “Republicans also may offer an amendment to boost coal production to put [now-House Resources Committee Chairman] Rahall in a tough spot, the aide said. Rahall represents a coal-mining district but his bill does not address coal.”“House GOP Plans Amendments to Counter Rahall Energy Bill,” Dow Jones Newswire, June 6, 2007.

Barnhart Blog Observation: Chairman Rahall opposed several amendments to promote coal technology that are in the best interests of his own district, not to mention the American people, all because he is a global warming alarmist and he does not want to upset oil and hedge fund speculators like George Soros.

Promise: “We’ll make this Fourth of July energy independence day...” Speaker-Elect Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Press Conference, May 9, 2007

Broken Promise: “The House energy bill has devolved into a heated battle that threatens to spoil Democrats’ hopes of passing an overhaul of energy policy by July 4.” “Pelosi vs. Dingell Heats Up; Energy Tension Rises at Meeting,” Roll Call, June 13, 2007.

Note: House members departed for the 2007 Fourth of July district work period without passing energy independence legislation of any kind.

No party remains blameless. Republicans could have fought harder when they controlled congress to help make us energy independent, instead they caved to pressure from foreign allies and from liberal Democrats and created no new nuclear plants, no refineries, or oil pipelines. In their own way Republicans helped Democrats put us in this situation. There is more than enough blame to go around especially when considering the Bush administration agreed to help Saudi Arabia investigate the viability of nuclear power plants when they have an abundance of solar energy available to them.

One final thought...10 years ago liberal Democrats and the Hollywood elite were defending Bill Clinton by saying that his White House perjury scandal was all bout sex and will have no impact on his decision making. Well...that is not exactly true. While Bill was busy playing hide the cigar with Monica Lewinsky he not only neglected to take out Osama Bin Laden multiple times he also canceled billions of dollars worth of oil drilling leases in California, Oregon, Washington, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, the Pacific Ocean, Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean and many others so he could do his part to help save the environment.

Part 2 - The Audacity of Lies; the Democrats Monumental List of Broken Promises

The 110th Democrat Congress promised Americans in 2006 that if only people would vote for them, life would be better, not unlike what Senator Obama is doing these days. One has only to listen to a few of his speeches or read his books in order to become Obamatized and sucked in by his words and promises of "Change."

Based on recent congressional history Obama is no different than Nancy Pelosi and is promising change that will never happen and even if it did would ruin our nation.

Picking up with where I left off yesterday in regards to the list of unfulfilled promises or outright lies told by the 110th Congress when they promised to change America in 2006 lets look at the subjects of student loans, raises for teachers, 401K benefits, and social security funding.

Nancy_pelosi Promise: “Our new direction plan will slash interest rates on college loans in half to … 4.25% for parents.” Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) “A New Direction for America,” Page 17

Broken Promise: “Although Kennedy’s proposal would reduce rates on parent-borrowed PLUS loans to 4.25 percent from 8.5, the House bill offers no break.” “Bills to Ease Student Loan Rates on Hill,” Chicago Tribune, February 4, 2007

Promise: “Our New Direction plan will slash interest rates on college loans in half to 3.4% for students …” Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) “A New Direction for America,” Page 17

Broken Promise: Democrats drastically scaled back their plans for a student loan interest rate cut shortly after taking power in Congress. And six months after Democrats took power, no legislation to cut student loan interest rates – temporarily or otherwise – has been sent to the President. “The much-touted House Democratic measure to slash in half student loan interest rates over five years has been drafted to offer only temporary relief.” “House Dems Offer Only Temporary Student Loan Rate Cut,” Congress Daily AM, January 16, 2007.

Barnhart Blog Observation: College tuition has increased by 6.6% to an average total cost of $13,589 per year. Private universities average $32,307 per year and the most expensive private Ivy League universities have surpassed $50,000 per year. Barack Obama has already stated he wants to put an end to college loan programs. One question…how the hell does he plan to help students get an education without educational loans? His proposed $4000 tax credit in return for public service won’t pay for even a ½ year of college.

Promise: “A college education is as important today as high school was a generation ago – and Democrats intend to make attending college just as affordable and available to all.” Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) “A New Direction for America,” Page 17

Broken Promise: “‘It’s a great sound bite – cutting rates in half,’ says Mark Kantrowitz, the publisher of FinAid.org, which gives information about ways to pay for college. ‘But it’s an incredibly expensive proposal with very little student aid benefit. The benefit … comes after students have graduated, which makes it unlikely to get more low-income students to enroll in college, especially since they tend to fear debt more.’” “Congress Moves to Cut College Loan Costs,” Christian Science Monitor, January 16, 2007.

Note the Ridiculous: House Education & Labor Committee Democrats also voted en masse against a GOP alternative proposal that would have used savings from higher education programs to increase funding for the Pell Grant college access program by $12 billion over the next five years, instead voting for a Democratic measure that puts the bulk of that money into benefits for individuals who have already graduated from college and earned a degree. This helps college graduates, not hopeful attendees, yet liberal Democrats expect the American public to pay for the education of illegal immigrants…give me a break.

Promise: “It’s time to revive the standards movement by attracting top-flight teachers by rewarding them for performance, not just credentials …” The Plan, Rahm Emanuel & Bruce Reed, Page 77

Screwed Broken Promise: As Democratic Caucus Chairman, Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) is co-sponsor of a bill that fails to fulfill his promise – the Teacher Excellence for All Children Act (H.R. 2204), legislation authored by Education and Labor Committee Democrats that places a premium on teacher credentials and tenure, rather than on classroom performance. Republicans, however, have stepped forward with legislation to reward good teachers for good performance. Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) has introduced the Teacher Incentive Fund Act (H.R. 1761), a Republican alternative to provide grants to local school districts to design and implement their own performance pay systems to reward teachers for closing the achievement gap inside the classroom.

Promise: “From now on, every job ought to come with a 401(k). . . Employers should be required to offer 401(k)s, and workers will be enrolled unless they choose otherwise.” The Plan, Rahm Emanuel & Bruce Reed, Page 55

“We should require all employers to offer workers a pension or 401(k) ….” The Plan, Rahm Emanuel & Bruce Reed, Page 91

Broken Promise: As of June 27, 2007, no legislation to encourage universal retirement savings has been passed by the Democratic Congress. In fact, last year the majority of House Democrats (including now-Speaker Nancy Pelosi) voted against the Pension Protection Act, the most comprehensive reforms of the worker pension system in more than a generation. Of note, the Pension Protection Act included measures to automatically enroll employees into worker 401(k) savings plans.
Roll Call Vote #422, July 28, 2006

Promise: “We will not borrow the money from the Social Security trust fund and from other creditors around the world.” Rep. Rob Andrews (D-NJ), House Floor Remarks, March 28, 2007

Broken Promise: 215 Democrats, including Democratic Rep. Rob Andrews (D-NJ), voted “NO” on a Republican proposal to prohibit increases in authorization spending levels if the Social Security surplus has been spent the previous year. Roll Call Vote #300, May 3, 2007

Promise: “We will ensure retirement security every day by protecting Social Security, protecting pensions and making savings easier for retirement for our seniors.” – Then-Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) “Press Conference,” July 28, 2006

Broken Promise: “The Democrats’ spending plan does nothing at all to address the problems facing the Social Security and Medicare systems, which are growing ever closer to spending more than they take in as the gigantic baby boom generation ages and retires.” – “A New Budget Proposal in No Way Unassuming,” The Republican (Springfield, MA) Editorial, May 17, 2007

Note: House Democrats voted en masse against a House Republican substitute budget that would have achieved balance by 2012 while ending the raid on Social Security, voting instead for a Democratic budget that allows the raiding to continue.

Barnhart Blog Observation: Keep in mind Democrats refused to pass a constitutional amendment back in the 1980’s that would require the government to balance the budget each year, almost thirty years later we are still dealing with the issue and making remedial stop-gap measures to secure social security funding instead of allowing the American people to decide how they want to invest the majority of their retirement savings.

I hope that this series of Blogs has opened your eyes to the lies that congress has told to win your vote. Just wait, it gets even better -  the next installment is exclusively dedicated to energy and gas prices. If it does not tick you off and get you boiling mad, nothing will.

The Audacity of Lies; the Democrats Monumental List of Broken Promises

Remember the Democrats "First 100 days Contract" they made with American voters in 2006. What I discovered after looking into the subject is that the list of broken promises is incredibly staggering. Democrats have broken their word on promises involving national security, congressional ethics, truth in government, earmarks and pork barrel spending, tax reform, health care reform, energy policy and gas prices just to name a few.

Pelosinancy The facts are jaw dropping. Democrats made 100 promises to the American people and two years later they have kept less than a handful. If I were to post all of the broken promises in one Blog, along with supporting facts, relevant photos and my own commentary it would take over 100 pages to complete. So instead I decided to post the list one day at a time, breaking it up by subject matter until it is completed.

I took the liberty of reviewing the material available from from congressional resources that was made public by The US House of Representatives after the first 100 days had passed. I was very careful to do complete fact checks, and I edited out any fulfilled promises while copying and pasting the remaining unfulfilled items for readers to review as I did.

The list is long but it should remind voters not to trust Liberal Democrats like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy and Barack Obama when they make tons of empty promises that they have no intention of keeping. Let's get started...

Leadership & Ethics

Promise: “Democrats are prepared to govern and ready to lead.” – Speaker-Elect Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Press Release, November 8, 2006

Broken Promise: “Six months after taking over Congress, Democrats find they have accomplished little of their agenda. Perhaps not coincidentally, Congress’ job approval rating has reached a dramatic low … If they can’t reverse the trend, some Democrats are starting to worry, and their majority could be short-lived.” – “Democrats Promised Way More Than They’ve Delivered So Far,” Chicago Tribune, June 21, 2007

Promise: “We will make this the most honest, ethical and open Congress in history.” – Speaker Elect Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Press Conference, November 8, 2006

Broken Promise: “When Democrats recaptured the House of Representatives last November after 12 long years in the minority, they promised voters ‘the most honest, the most open and the most ethical Congress.’ Five months after Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her leadership team took control, that promise remains unfulfilled.” – A Wake-Up Call for Congress,” Cleveland Plain Dealer Editorial, June 10, 2007.

Barnhart Blog Observation: The Ethics bill finally passed on September 14, 2007 to become Public Law 110-81 but it is an extremely watered down version that includes all kinds of loop holes for earmarks, acceptance of meals and other perks from lobbyists in Washington.

Health Care & Prescription Drugs

Emanuelpelosithumb Promise: “We need to cut the cost of health care so every child in America at last can get it. We can save hundreds of billions by adopting electronic medical records [and implementing other reforms]. . .” – The Plan, Rahm Emanuel & Bruce Reed, Page 55

Broken Promise: Democrats have passed no legislation to improve health information technology since taking power in Congress. In 2006, the Republican-led House passed such legislation with bipartisan support (the Better Health Information System Act, H.R. 4157 – passed July 27, 2006 by a vote of 270-148) – but then-Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) Chairman Rahm Emanuel voted “no.”

Promise: “Instead of leaving small businesses to fend for themselves [on health care], we should give them the opportunity to pool their purchasing power.” The Plan, Rahm Emanuel & Bruce Reed, Page 113.

“We need to cut the cost of health care so that every business can afford it. . .As we [achieve savings through health care reform], we should use them to give small businesses access to the same health care plans as members of Congress. . .” The Plan, Rahm Emanuel & Bruce Reed, Page 55

Liar2 Broken Promise: House Democrats, including now-Democrat Caucus Chairman Emanuel, unanimously opposed a House Republican proposal to enable small businesses to pool their purchasing power and offer their employees the same health care benefits large corporations and unions can offer – even though 36 House Democrats supported this plan in the last Congress. The GOP proposal opposed by Chairman Emanuel would have significantly expanded access to health coverage for uninsured families across the country by giving small businesses the opportunity to pool their purchasing power and purchase health coverage for their workers on par with the plans used by larger businesses and the federal government. – Roll Call Vote #17, January 10, 2007

Promise: “We will begin by making prescription drugs more affordable for our seniors by allowing Medicare to negotiate for lower prices.” – Then-Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Press Release, August 16, 2006

Broken Promise: Six months after Democrats took power in Congress, their “Six for ‘06” Medicare price control legislation remained stalled in the Democrat-controlled Senate, and no such legislation has been sent to the President.

Promise: “This crucial legislation requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services to negotiate for lower prescription drug prices on behalf of the more than 22 million Americans in Medicare prescription drug plans…This is just the beginning of Democratic efforts to ensure that quality health care is accessible and affordable for the American people.” Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Press Release, January 12, 2007

Broken Promise: To date not a single bill making more prescription drugs accessible and affordable for the American people has been sent to President Bush by the Democrat-controlled Congress. “The nonpartisan Congressional Research Service said that if the government negotiated lower drug prices for Medicare, pharmaceutical companies might respond by increasing prices for other buyers.” “Bush Threatens Veto of Medicare Drug Bill, But a Senator is Seeking Middle Ground,” New York Times, January 12, 2007.

Barnhart Blog Observation: The Liberal Democrats made promises that never had any intention of keeping, if we could not trust them to keep promises they made last year, why would we be dumb enough to trust them with health care issues in the future, makes no sense to me.

If reading these broken promises got you hot under the collar, just wait to read tomorrows installment concerning student loans, raises for teachers, 401K benefits, and social security funding.
