If you thought my last article regarding the Audacity of Obama and his lack of action in regards to race relations and “sundown towns” in Illinois was politically enlightening, this article travels well beyond common politics. It is a must read for anyone who has questions about Barack Obama and some of the conflicting statements he has made. It also touches on one of the most controversial subjects surrounding Barack Obama, one that I have to admit completely stunned me.
First, let’s hit the political subject matter…
Most television broadcasters, reporters and comedians are maintaining a hands-off approach in regards to analyzing the words and deeds of Barack Obama. Most of them will not touch the subject of his gaffes and mistakes; it is as if he is the “new Messiah” and anything he says or does is perfectly acceptable.
After interviewing staffers from Leno, Letterman, Conan and other late night shows a new story in Time magazine came to the same conclusion. The staffers admitted they do not want to write comedy about Obama because he is so popular and attacking him will cause their ratings to slide. Commentator Lou Dobbs of CNN has suggested that everyone is avoiding questioning Obama because they are afraid that accusations of racism will follow. Regardless of the reason, Obama is being treated as if he is the “new Messiah” so I have to ask, would the Messiah tell lies like these?
Example One: Obama has lied about his personal inspiration
During the campaign and in his book “Dreams from my Father” Obama has recalled an article and photograph in Life magazine that made a huge impression on him when he was a youngster living in Jakarta. The article told the story a man who was black and used chemicals to peel and lighten his skin to try and fit in. When conservatives began researching the story questions surfaced as to the legitimacy of the story and the existence of the picture that made the impression on a young Barack. Historians at Life magazine could not locate the article or photo. Obama then said it “might have been Time or Ebony”, but again, historians from those magazines were unable to locate any such article or photograph and no magazine has stepped forward to confirm the story.
Example Two: Obama has lied about campaign ads
During the primary an anti-Clinton video went viral on the internet that was a doctored version of a historic Apple Macintosh advertisement based on George Orwell’s 1984. When questioned by CNN’s Larry King about the ad Barack Obama said "We don't have the technical capacity to create something like that." Unfortunately for Obama the truth is the ad was made by a political operative who was paid to help keep his website updated. The operative made the ad at home on his Mac and it was well known by the Obama camp who produced the ad and when.
Example Three: Obama has lied about his wearing of the American Flag
During the campaign Barack Obama defended his right to avoid wearing an American Flag lapel pin by saying “You know, the truth is that right after 9/11, I had a pin. Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we’re talking about the Iraq war, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security, I decided I won’t wear that pin on my chest.” However in the past few days, prior to his visit to Iraq he is suddenly wearing the American Flag on his lapel again in an effort to reinvent himself as a pro-military patriot.
Example Four: Obama has lied about his position on the surge in Iraq
Prior to and during the campaign Barack Obama has continually advocated the removal of troops from Iraq and was even quoted on his website as saying “the surge will not work, it is doomed to fail.” As an example on January 14, 2007 during an interview on CBS Obama said this “we can send 15,000 more troops 20,000 more troops or even 30,000 more troops and I don’t know any expert on the region or any military officer that I have spoken to privately that believes that is gonna [going to] make a substantial difference on the situation on the ground.”
Once General David Petraeus confirmed to Congress the surge was working, Obama had this to say January 1, 2008 in an interview on ABC “I had no doubt when I opposed the surge that given how wonderfully our troops perform that if we placed 30,000 more troops in there then we would see an improvement and the security situation would improve and we would see a reduction in the violence.”
Example Five: Obama is covering up his position about the surge in Iraq
In a stunning turn of events instead of admitting that he, Barack Obama, was wrong about the surge in Iraq the Associated Press reported today that over the weekend Obama’s staffers scurried to remove any and all negative quotes and references in reference to the surge not working in Iraq. They deny that it is because he is about to travel to Iraq and wants to position himself as a pro-military patriot.
Example Six: Barack Obama has lied about his position regarding health care
In 2003 while speaking before a meeting of the AFL/CIO Barack Obama made this statement “I happen to be a proponent of single-payer universal healthcare coverage. That’s what I’d like to see.” During a Democrat primary debate Hillary Clinton took Obama to task for his comment and Obama said this "I never said that we should try to go ahead and get single-payer."
Example Seven: Barack Obama has lied about off shore drilling platforms causing mass pollution
Barack Obama has said “offshore drilling will drain our natural resources and lead to more oil pollution on this nations shores” but Obama’s comments are incorrect. Scientists have proven that offshore oil platforms create artificial reefs, and professional fisherman confirmed that some of the very best fishing is in and around offshore drilling platforms due to the warmth. The effect is very similar to the one scientists discovered in Alaska when they studied the impact of oil pipelines on the mating habits of caribou and other animals. As to Obama’s comments regarding oil pollution in the ocean, The University of Santa Barbara, The National Academy of Sciences and other scientists studying the matter have determined that 63% of all oil seepage is natural and comes from the ocean floor, 4% is from transportation, 32% is caused by consumers dumping petroleum illegally and just 1%is caused by offshore platforms. They have also determined that offshore drilling helps to relieve the natural pressure on the earth to produce seepage.
Example Eight: Barack Obama arrogantly sees himself as the “new Messiah”
Believe it or not Barack Obama staffers and Obama himself is not shying away from claims that he is the “new Messiah.” Before anyone doubts the claim I am making they might want to research the number of people comparing him to the Messiah, research his own comments that blasphemously draw on religious imagery and the number of stories that are circulating about people being healed during his speeches.
Barack Obama has said the following statements about himself and his political movement during several stump speeches “we are the change that we seek” and “we are the ones we have waited for.”
On January 8, 2008 while at Dartmouth Obama said this about himself “"My job this morning is to be so persuasive that a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany, and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Barack Obama."
While on the stump Obama staffers have eluded that the questioning and persecution of Obama is like that of Jesus Christ.
Ginny McCallum a 43 year old woman who was confined to a wheel chair attended an Obama speech at The University of Texas. After bumping into Obama in a breezeway Barack Obama saw her, reached out to her, grabbed her hand, and then pulled her up to a standing position. Barack Obama smiled at her and said “Yes, you can” and she was healed. One staffer said that while people are in line to meet Barack they are healed “We don’t talk about it a lot, but yeah, it does happen. We don’t know exactly how or why it’s happening, and the Senator won’t talk about it. He usually insists that people keep it quiet and just report it to their pastor or priest."
While in Houston Texas Barack Obama stepped into the crowd and began reaching out to people with infirmities behind a rope line. He touched a cancer patient, a blind woman, a deaf man and they were reportedly healed after he simply said “yes you can.”
Obama insiders have said that they cannot explain it and they are told by the candidate to avoid identifying themselves. One aide to the campaign did say under the assurance of anonymity "His power goes beyond simple inspiration, there is something developing here that I’m not sure any of us fully understand. We were told privately that his time has not yet come, so it would be inappropriate to talk about the healings right now. He says he will wait until the convention to speak publicly about the special calling he believes he has to lead the country.”
When I discovered these and other references on the Internet I was stunned. Yet there the stories were of Obama laying hands on people simply saying the phrase “yes you can” and people were being healed. No mention of God, Jesus, power from heaven, etc. Barack Obama is apparently healing people of his own accord.
Christians, Jews, Muslims and non-believers can research the subject for themselves by looking up the phrases “Obama heals”, “Obama yes you can” and “is Obama healing people” etc.
I had to change the search requirements multiple times to dig through similar websites with the same information to find different stories confirming the phenomenon. I also searched websites that commonly expose false internet rumors such as Snopes.com; but I was unable to locate even one that debunked rumors of miracles being performed by Barack Obama or that were happening at his speeches.
I do know that the story has made it to a political satire website called "The Lark" which is much like "The Onion" and "The Peoples Cube" but even so, after making calls to the Obama campaign no one would confirm or deny the rumors. Frankly, I wished they would because the rumors are troublesome.
As a Christian who supports Israel and believes in the second coming of Jesus Christ, all I can say is if the rumors of Barack Obama healing people by saying simply “yes you can” are indeed true, any man healing people of his own accord is frightening. I believe in the power of prayer, miracles and healing but Christians are supposed to be on guard against anyone performing miracles and wonders based on their own power.
I created www.barnhartblog.com to discuss politics, current events and sometimes religion, but the discoveries made while researching this piece were stunning and have troubled me greatly. As a Christian I dare not make any statements as to what they might mean with respect to apocalyptic Biblical prophecy, and nor should anyone else. Only God knows the answer and I prefer to leave those matters in his capable hands.
