"Just Say No!" to the Bailout John McCain!

Before reading this, I want it understood, this is not the official position of www.letsgetthisright.com or anyone else, this is MY PERSONAL OPINION and does not represent my position as a staffer of www.letsgetthisright.com

American's need to stand up and tell John McCain to "Just Say No!"

If one reads just the title of the bill that was voted down yesterday it has absolutely nothing to do with the government’s attempted bail out to the tune of $700 Billion dollars. For those who are unaware here is the title of the "bailout bill"

BILL TITLE: To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide earnings assistance and tax relief to members of the uniformed services, volunteer firefighters, and Peace Corps volunteers, and for other purposes

(what the hell... how can anyone make heads or tails of that title referencing a bailout bill???)

No American should be in favor of this bail out - you don't fix a temporary problem within a capitalist economy with a permanent socialist solution. Hell, even 95 democrats agreed yesterday that the bailout is the WRONG solution.

This is one of those occasions where I DO NOT support the President’s position!

President Bush, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Rahm Emanuel,  John Murtha, Charlie Rangel, and a host of other liberals are in favor of this ridiculous bill, the Republicans who supported it should be ashamed and do not represent true conservative values.

In my own personal opinion, if John McCain wants to have any hope of winning the White House and thereby help Sarah Palin as a potential future President, he should immediately separate his position from that of the President, Secretary Paulson, Senator Obama, as well as the Democrats and Republicans who support the bailout.

I like McCain, I like Palin and they are the ticket I am supporting, but the folks at the top of the campaign who are giving them advice need to hush, stop pushing a bad agenda, and listen to the voice of the American people on this one and let John McCain and Sarah Palin act accordingly.

Let us, "We The People" figure out how to get this right, by allowing us to participate in the general economy to fix it over time, the bailout bill is the equivalent of using morphine to cure a bad flu bug, the cure is not only the wrong prescription, it is more deadly than the illness itself.

John McCain needs to be the Maverick that many Americans like, respect and are comfortable voting for.

Senator John McCain should immediately come out and "Just Say No" to the bail out and suggest the following or something very similar to it;

1. Suspend the Mark-to-Market Rule - If short selling can be suspended on 799 stocks (an arbitrary number and a warning of the rule by bureaucrats which is coming under the Paulson plan), the mark-to-market rule can be suspended for six months and then replaced with a more accurate three year rolling average mark-to-market.

2. Repeal Sarbanes Oxley - It failed with Freddy Mac. It failed with Fannie Mae. It failed with Bear Stearns. It failed with Lehman Brothers. It failed with AIG. It is crippling our entrepreneurial economy. I spent three days this week in Silicon Valley. Everyone agreed Sarbanes-Oxley was crippling the economy. One firm told me they would bring more than 20 companies public in the next year if the law was repealed. Its Sarbanes-Oxley’s $3 million per startup annual accounting fee that is keeping these companies private.

3. Match our competitors in China and Singapore by going to a zero capital gains tax - Private capital will flood into Wall Street with zero capital gains and it will come at no cost to the taxpayer. Even if you believe in a static analytical model in which lower capital gains taxes mean lower revenues for the Treasury, a zero capital gains tax costs much less than the Paulson plan. And if you believe in a historic model (as I do), a zero capital gains tax would lead to a dramatic increase in federal revenue through a larger, more competitive and more prosperous economy.

4. Immediately pass an “all of the above” energy plan - that is designed to bring home $500 billion of the $700 billion a year we are sending overseas. With that much energy income the American economy would boom and government revenues would grow.

5. Immediately DEMAND investigations - of those responsible for directly influencing the current economic situation due to either direct action or inaction, be they captains of industry, lobbyists or politicians and as McCain would say "make them famous" and let the FBI, the Justice Dept. and the Federal Court systems follow up from there.

None of these suggestions are new, they are supported by Conservative politicians and business men like New Gingrich (who actually made those proposals on Sept. 21st - See Forbes Magazine and National Review Online from that date) and there are also plenty of "hip and trendy" socially left "pop culture icons" like Donald Trump who favor the concept of "Just Say No" as well.

There is NO REASON for John McCain to support a bailout bill that both George Bush and Barack Obama support and 83% to 86% of Americans on both sides DO NOT support!

John McCain MUST be on the RIGHT side of history on this bill, I say call and email the McCain campaign, and his Senate offices and tell them to tell John McCain to "Just Say No!"

Barack Obama; the Audacity of Change

In terms of the political climate and the current election cycle Barack Obama sounds like a man who is bitterly clinging to his message of change while losing his cool.

His poll numbers are dropping, his frustration is showing, swing states and even some traditionally blue states like New Jersey are moving toward McCain and the Obama campaign just cannot seem to overcome the McCain - Palin mania that is now sweeping the country.

As further evidence of this, yesterday while on the campaign stump Senator Barack Obama made the following comment in reference to John McCain out of general frustration...

"He is just now starting to talk about change, and here I have been on the campaign trail talking about change for two years."

You know what.... I agree with you Barack you are 100% correct... you HAVE been TALKING about change for two years.

So where is it Senator Obama where is the change you have promised us sir?

What have you actually DONE in the last two years other than talk?

Where is the legislation you have written?

The legislation you have proposed?

The committees you have run?

Where are the reform bills?

The bills you have passed?

The taxes you have cut?

The companies you have helped to build?

The jobs you have created?

The troops you have brought home?

The wars you have ended?

The terrorists you have stopped?

The children you have educated?

The crimes you have prevented?

The people you have healed?

The unity in your party?

The woman on your ticket?

Where Barack?

Where is any positive change that you have created for the good of the American people?

Please tell me what have you actually accomplished?

TALKING about change is EASY; it is another thing to being doing something about it!

Senator Barack Obama...a man of many words...

Schumer, Dodd and Frank Asleep At The Wheel or Stuck On Stupid?

1_61_schumer_chuck This Blog is specifically intended for liberal Democrats Charles Schumer, of New York, Chris Dodd of Connecticut and Barney Frank of Massachusetts. I want to know from you three and others like you who share your ideas of what government should be, where in the "Sam Hill" were you gentlemen as the current financial house of cards was starting to show signs of folding?

Don't bother trying to answer, your excuses will ring hollow because I know where you were and what you were up to before the stock market crashed on "Black Monday."

So pay attention you three twits!
Dodd Shame on you Chucky, you are the Chairman of Congress' Joint Economic Committee and a vocal critic of the Bush administration, shame and you Chris Dodd, you are the Senate Chairman of the Banking Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs, you Mr. Dodd, you got sweetheart loans as did your liberal friends like Senator Obama that most Americans have no ability to get, with special clauses which include no penalties, low interest rates, no fees etc. that brings me to Barney Frank, you are the Chairman of the Financial Services Committee and you promised the American voters in 2005 and 2006 this would not happen on your watch, but each of you sirs, you all lied!

Frank Did you three think that conservative Bloggers and radio talk show hosts like me have forgotten that President Bush, and Senator John McCain tried to get you and the rest of the House and Senate to pass new sweeping oversight legislation back in 2003 and again in 2005?

Bush and McCain supported the creation of a new agency within the Treasury Department that would have had the power to oversee the financial dealings of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and change the current legislation that historically left that power within the oversight of congressional committees which at the time were in the hands of Republicans, not Democrats.

It is important to note that both Bush and McCain recognized the problems that poor oversight and mismanagement posed and that was at least part of the reason why they wanted to put the oversight of the banking, mortgage, home loan and insurance industries into the hands of the Treasury Department not partisan congressional leaders of either party.

Wobama_wideweb__470x3470 Why didn't you three or the "Dali-Bama" push for the passage of sweeping banking, mortgage lending and loan insurance reform legislation back in 2003 and 2005? Bush, McCain and hundreds of economists saw this disaster coming, but oh no not you!

Simply stated it was because Schumer, Dodd, Frank and your cronies like Reid, Rangel, Murtha, Boxer, Diane "Franken-Feinstein", Hillary "Rotten" Clinton, and Nancy "Stretch" Pelosi were too busy concentrating on blocking every piece of legislation on the Presidential wish list just to make the administration look bad. The plan was to keep the public and the news media focused on the war in Iraq, all in an effort to swing power back to liberal Democrats prior to the election.

Well you three back benchers it worked and thank you for this mess we are in. Now you and so many others on the liberal left, including Senators Joe Biden and Barack Obama want to cry foul... and it stinks sirs.

Sfunlarge President Bush and John McCain saw this coming and you three did nothing, just because you clowns were in the middle of a big power grab you all chose to sit on your hands while leading in the charge to do nothing! You and so many others like you on the left refused the pass the FDIC Banking Reform Act of 2005 H.R. 1185 and you also refused to pass the Mortgage Regulatory Reform Act of 2005. Each of you claim now that Republicans have supposedly pushed us into this mess, yet you all continually blocked the passage of proposed Republican legislation to prevent it, just so you could win an election!

Mr. Schumer you made the move on your own accord in June to leak letters you had sent to federal bank regulators, saying that the financial position of IndyMac Bank "poses significant risks to both taxpayers and borrowers" and then went on to ask â??if federal regulators were prepared to take measures that would help prevent the collapse of IndyMac or minimize the damage should such a failure occur." After that little note of yours Senator Schumer sent shock waves through the financial sector there was a $1.3 billion dollar run on the bank.

Imac_bank Less than one month later IndyMac was seized and the house of cards that congress could have prevented in 2003 started to fall and fall fast. At the time it was the second-largest bank failure in U.S. history. The banks employees and investors blamed Schumer for IndyMac's failure calling the leaking of the of the letters "reckless and grossly irresponsible." Over 50 former IndyMac employees, sent a letter to California Attorney General (and confirmed fellow moonbat) Jerry Brown stating that "Because of a malicious, politically motivated act of Charles Schumer, our lives have been shattered." Did Jerry Brown do anything? Will he? He said late last month the answer is "no." Why?

Because he and other nutty liberals want to try and hold Republicans accountable for the mess when it was Republicans who tried to get congressional Democrats to reach across the aisle and alter the current course of events back in 2003 and again in 2005. House and Senate Democrats, including Schumer, Dodd and Frank have accused the Bush administration of doing nothing to keep people from accepting loans they could not actually afford. Then to try and sweep this and all the other financial ruin under the rug and make the problem go away it was Schumer, Dodd, Frank and others that pressured the President to sign the Mortgage Relief Act a month ago.

Bush threatened to veto the bill and he should have, but he didn't, he caved as did hundreds of other Republicans and it is really disturbing, there is no excuse that justifies the bail out. Too bad too because the entire affair is the responsibility of a faulty banking system, poor banking management, underfunded investment groups who were flipping financially unstable properties, wretchedly poor congressional oversight and poorly qualified buyers.

Uncle_sam_with_guncolorweb Where is the individual responsibility in any of those scenarios, are we supposed to always bail out those who constantly survive on the misuse of the tax milk that flows like wasted water from the nipple of "Uncle Sugar?" The bill is now forcing all American citizens to back billions of dollars in bad loans, it amounts nothing more than taxation without representation. When he was originally asked about the affair Schumer refused to comment personally, instead he sent a spokesman out on his behalf to deny the allegations, "IndyMac's downfall was inevitable after years of high-risk lending."

That is true, but Schumer, Dodd and Frank were the Chairmen ultimately responsible for Federal oversight of IndyMac, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and others; they willingly allowed all this to take place on their watch just for the eventual political gain. Not to mention they helped lead the charge in 2003 and 2005 against at least two bills that could have helped prevent some of the current economic woes in the US.

Alas, it was all too tempting for those three morons to reach for the brass ring of congressional power by screaming about the Iraq war when the real train wreck that was about to derail and demolish our economic prosperity was just around the bend and in sight.

If the liberals in Washington DC can jack our economy up this badly in a short few years since they took control, one can only imagine the nightmare that awaits us in regards to health care, education, border security and our national defense.

Millions of Americans want to know what your excuse is gentlemen...
Were you asleep at the wheel or just stuck on stupid?

Arianna Huffington the Wicked Witch of the West

Well, after months of waiting I figured it was past time for me to fire a shot across the bow of one of the most annoying left wing loud mouths on the web; the Wicked Witch of the West herself, Arianna Huffington.

I recently decided to subscribe to her free rag of a blog/website so I could get a view from the left in my email each day without having to actually read too much of MSNBC or the Daily Kos seeing as how overexposure only results in the need to scrub ones brain afterwards.

For you who have no idea who the half-witted and ill mannered Wicked Witch of the West is, here is my take on her.

Huffpo Ms. Huffington is a naturalized citizen of the US and a native of Greece, she describes herself as a "former right-winger who has devolved into a compassionate and progressive populist", she has authored many books on the subjects of feminism, politics, Picasso, she ran as an Independent for California Governor and was soundly defeated by Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger. She somehow collected an amazing 1% of the popular vote in a special election that saw all kinds of fruits, nuts and flakes come out of the woodwork.

To her credit, and yes I have to give her credit, Ms. Huffington bucked the system and all the naysayers and created the Huffington Post which is now a wildly successful liberal hang out. Each week, well over 1000 crazy left wingers prove their ignorance of the facts and lack of historical depth by blogging on “Huff-Po”; they make a habit of spewing their vile hatred at the Bush, McCain, Palin, Ronald Reagan and anyone else they feel is worth demonizing. Basically it’s a Blog site that MSNBC’s Keith “Meltdown’ Olbermann would be proud of and likely wished he had thought of.

Arianna was a liberal who in 1986 met and later married a Millionaire oil man, later Republican Congressman, Michael Huffington. Some contend that the marriage was more out of out of convenience for both of them seeing as how she ended up serving briefly in Washington DC as Deputy Secretary of Defense for Negotiations Policy (a rather low level advisory post)and he, her ex-husband, states Arianna met him in San Francisco and later married him for his money and clout with the knowledge that he was bisexual. Knowing that her husband was about to be forced from the closet and would then lose his powerful status as a Republican Congressman Huffington divorced him in 1996.

Let’s just say that once you read Ms. Huffington’s Blog you will find she is a very bitter woman bent on spreading as many lies, spin, misery and mayhem as she can. She hates Republican’s (especially Judea/Christian conservatives) and I dare say that much of her hate is due to her doomed marriage. Arianna Huffington is not only a self indulgent liberal attack dog she is also a devoted “spiritualist” who has said publicly many times that she “comes from the 4th dimension of political and religious time and space.”

In her Blog today Ms Huffington wrote the following in regards to Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and her recent interview with ABC’s Charlie Gibson. (See my commentary in red)

“Sarah Palin may not have known what the Bush Doctrine was, but we're getting a pretty good idea of what the Palin Doctrine is. Or will be -- because it's still currently under construction. And what is it going to look like? Let's just say, it's going to seem familiar. According to London's Daily Telegraph, the architects of the Palin Doctrine are a group of people who have been singularly wrong about virtually everything in the last decade -- the neocons, who have been briefing Palin for weeks.”

Barnhart Blog commentary – Sarah Palin was wrong about what Arianna? The surge, killing terrorists first before they try to attack us, the high cost of bailing out Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae would be to the economy, how bad things would get after Democrats controlled congress and did nothing for two years? There are many different Bush doctrines, whether they were all executed properly please tell me which one Palin was wrong about. Truth is she wasn't.

“As predicted, the fact that she didn't know anything wasn't a bug, it was a feature. She's perfect for the neocons: likeable on the outside, a blank slate on the inside. To borrow from an old cliché, if Sarah Palin didn't exist, the neocons would have had to invent her.

Barnhart Blog commentary - Arianna seems to be jealous and wrong. Sarah Palin hit every question on the mark with no hesitation and she never let Gibson rattle her. In fact, ABC had to edit the interview to make Gibson look tough, instead the endeavor came off as rude and insulting.

“In fact, this is how one former White House aide describes her: "She's bright and she's a blank page. She's going places and it's worth going there with her."

Barnhart Blog commentary – Who Arianna? What aide? Who are they? Surely you could dig up some “screwball” speech writer from the Carter years like Chris Matthews to give you his opinion instead of quoting an anonymous “White House aide” as you source. What…was Scott McClellan or Richard Clarke not available?

“Of course, the place her neocon mentors hope she's going is the White House. Given their dismal track record, they're smart enough to figure that the American public wouldn't be too keen on letting them in the front door again, so they are trying to sneak in hidden behind Palin's skirt. The Trojan Moose approaches. The Daily Telegraph details how the neocon talent scouts spotted their political Eliza Doolittle back in the summer of '07. The love connection began, appropriately enough, on a love boat:

"Sources in the McCain camp, the Republican Party and Washington think tanks say Mrs. Palin was identified as a potential future leader of the neoconservative cause in June 2007. That was when the annual summer cruise organised by the right-of-centre Weekly Standard magazine docked in Juneau, the Alaskan state capital, and the pundits on board took tea with Governor Palin. So nice to meet you, Governor. And don't forget, cucumber sandwiches and preemptive invasions on the Lido Deck at four!”

Barnhart Blog commentary – Arianna can you please quote a source for once that does not have a liberal bent to it and can they please say who their sources were, just once?

Spalin_2 Besides, I would much rather have a VP like Sarah Palin backing up a President like John McCain than some gutless liberal who will follow in Bill Clinton’s footsteps and allow the Red Chinese to steal our secrets, sell a night in the Lincoln bedroom for campaign donations, or fail on 13 different occasions to “call the ball” to capture or kill Osama bin Laden because they are afraid what will happen to their approval ratings in the polls.

“Not surprisingly, Palin's biggest fan is Bill Kristol, who describes her as the "specter of a young, attractive, unapologetic conservatism" that "is haunting the liberal elites."

Barnhart Blog commentary – Arianna do I detect a crush on Bill Kristol?

“Among her other Henry Higginses is neo-neocon Joe Lieberman, who is reportedly helping prep Palin for the big ball -- her debate with Joe Biden. She's already passed her first test with flying colors: being willing to link 9/11 with Iraq, something not even the president is still willing to do. Last week, she told a group of Iraq-bound soldiers that they were going to "defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans." By George (Bush), I think she's got it! Congratulations, Professor Kristol, your student is coming along just fine.”

Barnhart Blog commentary – Arianna please quote for me where Sara Palin linked Iraq with 9/11 in her interview with Charlie Gibson? You can’t because it didn’t happen. Here again, you lie, twist and distort what you cannot honestly point to as fact.

Of course, the neocons know they already have an ally at the top of the GOP ticket. McCain may have been a reformer on campaign finance, but when it comes to foreign policy, he has always been solidly in the neocon club. He loves to burnish his foreign policy bona fides by talking about how he wanted to fire Donald Rumsfeld months before Bush did. But he doesn't talk a lot about how, in the days immediately after 9/11, he was part of the neocon crowd itching to get into Iraq.

Kristol Barnhart Blog commentary – Arianna, do you even know the definition of a Neocon? I don’t think you do, so let me refresh your memory. A Neoconservative (and it should always begin with a capital “N” there “Witchipoo”) is a right-wing political philosophy that emerged in the United States from the rejection of the social liberalism, moral relativism, and New Left counterculture of the 1960s. whereas, you and were a RINO a Republican In Name only and were constantly trying to minister to Judea/Christians who were not fooled by your brand of secular humanism masquerading as a very false version of Christianity.

“Just a few days after the attack, McCain was already talking about "some other countries" that helped Bin Laden. Countries like Syria, Iran, and...Iraq. And a few weeks later, during an October 18, 2001 appearance on David Letterman, McCain answered a question about how the war in Afghanistan was going by announcing that the invasion of Iraq would be "the second phase" of the war on terror (how prescient of him to know that Saddam wouldn't give up those nonexistent WMD). What's more, he tried to buttress the case for attacking Iraq by claiming that the recent spate of anthrax attacks "may have come from Iraq." Or Fort Detrick. Six years later, demonstrating how little he's learned from the debacle in Iraq, McCain hired Randy Scheunemann, a neocon darling who helped form The Committee for the Liberation of Iraq in 2002, as his campaign's chief foreign policy advisor.

As TPMMuckraker noted in July, "Of all the hawkish Washington foreign-policy types pushing both before and after 9/11 for war with Iraq -- a war that an overwhelming majority of Americans now considers a mistake -- Scheunemann, though not a marquee name, was among the most energetic and influential. And in the invasion's aftermath, he consistently opposed steps that might have helped stabilize the country." And now, according to the Daily Telegraph, Scheunemann is briefing Sarah Palin. (Arianna, I thought you were a published author hadn’t you ever heard to never begin a sentence with the words And, but, or however?)

“McCain's selection of Palin may have been reckless, but it was anything but random. The neocons' view of the world may be disastrous, dangerous, discredited, and deadly -- but it's far from dead. Their patron saint, Dick Cheney, the scowling embodiment of the Neocon Doctrine, had way too much baggage -- and way too low approval ratings -- to mount a run for the White House. That's why the Palin pick was so brilliant. On the outside, she's exponentially more likable and talented at connecting with people than Cheney ever was. But on the inside, once she graduates from the neocon finishing school, she'll be a complete and total Dick. Cheney. With lipstick.”

Mccaintopper Barnhart Blog commentary – Arianna there are indeed “other countries” who have in them personalities that are dangerous, and readily sympathize and give money to Al-Qaeda, like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Yemen, the UAE, and others who would not hesitate to join in and help them if they could get away with it. Michael Scheuer the man who headed the CIA Osama bin Laden task force as much as confirmed it last week on my show. I dare say he is more of an expert than you will ever be. Despite John McCain not fully understanding what Michael Scheuer says motivates Al-Qaeda (which is to say "infidels" being present on what Osama bin Laden sees as sacred Islamic lands only)John McCain is still 100% more qualified to engage the enemy than most politicians and Scheuer even said he was going to vote for McCain.

Regardless, you did get one thing right… your politics and your level of intellect on the subject have definitely devolved.

On a more personal note - As for the last line of your blog in regards to … um (“Dick. Cheney.”) if you tried acting more like a lady instead of an outraged donkey all the time, you might actually… never mind I don’t need to actually write it for you to figure out the rest do I?

Investigators Turn Up Evidence of an Untold Sarah Palin Scandal

This is an important News Bulletin...

Govsar The Obama campaign, the drive-by media, and many liberal 527groups have sent thousands of folks into the Alaska wilderness searching for an untold Sarah Palin scandal in an attempt to derail the McCain - Palin ticket with an "October surprise".

For those who have not heard, here is the latest and trust me it is a shocker... Alaska Governor Sarah Palin had a tanning bed installed the Governor’s mansion.

I know what you are thinking, how could she... after we the people thought she was naturally tan and glowing all the time, but alas it is true. The Liberals have finally found a scandal that may stick.

After all, the American Cancer Society shuns the use of tanning beds and McCain himself has suffered from skin cancer! This scandalous story was first reported by Al Giodano's Narco News.

Apparently Governor Palin had it installed in the Governor’s mansion on her instruction, and a spokesman for the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Roger Wetherell, confirmed the story which then made it onto several political news Blogs including Real Clear Politics and Politico.com.

Oh... just one more thing... Mr. Wetherell also confirmed that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin paid for the tanning bed with her own money!

Liberals As each of us know the "Dali-Bama" has informed each of us that we must give up our addictions to things like "oil, cars, guns, prosperity, our money and The Bible."

So, in order to help Sarah Palin with her "addiction to tanning beds and Vitamin D" the Obama campaign sent advance team of "Liberal Ambassadors" to Alaska.

The advance team has gathered outside the Governor's Mansion in Juneau where at this very moment they have encircled the mansion, are holding hands and singing "Kumbaya" in an effort to ward off evil spirits and Vitamin D.

They are hopeful that Barack Obama otherwise known as "The One" is soon to arrive on the scene as only the "Dali-Bama" can so he can levitate the Governor's mansion and remove the cancer causing tanning bed from the structure thereby saving the Governors life and exorcising the demon vitamin D from her body.

Arianna Huffington the Wicked Witch of the West

Well, after months of waiting I figured it was past time for me to fire a shot across the bow of one of the most annoying left wing loud mouths on the web; the Wicked Witch of the West herself, Arianna Huffington.

I recently decided to subscribe to her free rag of a blog/website so I could get a view from the left in my email each day without having to actually read too much of (Mostly Not Broadcasting Conservatives Network) or the Daily Kos seeing as how overexposure only results in the need to scrub ones brain afterwards.

McCain Leads in the Polls; Obama Camp in Desperate Times

About 10 days ago I reported that the Obama camp was seeing their poll number slip to a 6% lead from what was at one point almost an 8% to a 9% lead. A little more than one week later and most polls have the race called as a dead heat and many have McCain up by 5% and the resulting desperation is showing in the Obama camp as they are starting to implode.

Here's how I came to that conclusion...

The announcement of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as John McCain's running mate sent shock waves through the Obama staff. They helped chose Delaware Senator Joe Biden to be Obama's running mate in order to help combat McCain's experience gap with Obama. In Joe Biden they had hoped to find an attack dog, an outspoken hawkish maverick that knows McCain well and could attack him with near impunity.

The problem is that McCain chose a younger, more vibrant, undaunted, as yet uncorrupted, successful middle-class Judea/Christian mother and Governor of the largest oil rich state to be his running mate. That choice in and of itself sent an aftershock through the Obama camp because it took away the large bounce that they expected after the Invesco Field speech where an estimated 85,000 people watched from the stands and another 35 million caught the spectacle on TV.

Since then Obama has taken a huge amount of heat for not selecting Senator Hillary Clinton to be his running mate, essentially leaving a gap in party loyalty, and many in the press questioning if the wheels have come off the Obama train.

In recent days numerous reporters, 527 groups, union investigators, private investigators, reporters and political operatives have landed in Alaska searching for a needle in a haystack, wanting to find that one damning piece of evidence to shoot Palin down in flames.

The problem is that the McCain camp has done their homework and vetted her very well. They knew about her husband’s DUI 20 years ago, they knew about her support of "Jews for Jesus", her attendance of an Evangelical Assembly of God Church, her Down Syndrome son, her 5 children, her union membership, her eldest daughters teen pregnancy, the firing of her brother in law who as a law enforcement officer was caught drunk on the job, her canceling the bridge to nowhere, the scandalous rumors of an alleged affair, her NRA membership, her outspoken nature, her beauty queen good looks, etc. etc. They knew it all, good and bad, true and untrue.

To make matters worse, Obama went on Fox News and was interviewed by Bill O'Reilly and did not hold his own. He was swiftly shredded by O'Reilly in regards to Iraq, Homeland Security, taxes, his associations with Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers and others.

Worse still Obama proceeded to make these statements about the McCain / Palin ticket "You can put lipstick on a pig, It's still a pig; you can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still going to stink."Those statements have caused a huge backlash as Obama is seen as losing his grip and practicing a rude brand of politics he swore he would avoid.

His frustration, desperation and anger is showing and growing rapidly and here is the latest...

A neurologist from Mt. Sinai Hospital is questioning Joe Biden's ability to serve as VP due to his two previous bran aneurysms, stating that it can cause dementia, fits of anger, loss of deductive reasoning, problems with motor functions etc. Some are suggesting that Biden should voluntarily leave the ticket and that Hillary Clinton replace him due to medical reasons.

In my opinion the interview with both candidates conducted at Rick Warren's Saddleback Church started the beginning of the McCain revolution but no matter whether it was his straight forward answers, his selection of Palin, her acceptance speech, or his that eclipsed Obama's by 500,000 viewers, for now the Straight Talk Express has the upper hand; I just hope the momentum continues.

Obama-Rama and Group Think

If you are one of the millions who watched the "Obama-Rama" last night and are not an Obamacon or an Obamanite then perhaps you, like me, were wondering where is the beef, the meat in the speech, the "how" and not just the "what."

What Obama tried to do last night was juggle jell-o and mold smoke but you are not supposed to notice that because the Hollywood style production and the fervor of the huge "group think" production that was put on is supposed to lull your brain to sleep so you accept what his is selling.

People have wondered why Barack Obama wanted to use Invesco field for his speech... the answer is simple. It is an effort to push a "group think" agenda to "get things done" by getting everyone in a large audience to "feel good" without really knowing why.

The "wise Earth" group thinkers are subtle in many ways, but the results of their behavior are ultimately destructive. As Ronald Reagan said "waving the flag while jumping off a cliff is still jumping off a cliff."Marxists, Socialists and Liberals like using group think to persuade others to follow them down a "feel good" path of destruction. Group think can lead to some very extreme situations.

In the last 100 years history provides multiple examples that resulted in serious consequences for those who opposed some very radical group think idealists; the thoughts and actions of Vladimir Lenin, Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, Pol Pot, Idi Amin Dada, Ayatollah Khomenei, Robert Mugabe, "Baby Doc" Jean-Claude Duvalier, all resulted in the deaths of multiple millions of people.

Once people start digging deeper into the lives and beliefs of people who have impacted Barack Obama they will discover that many of his friends and idols believe that group think is a good thing because it allows for constant control of a 100% man-made grand design for change.

The group thinkers that have influenced or impacted the life of Barack Obama include but are not limited to William Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Frank Marshall Davis, Saul Alinsky, Jeremiah Wright, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, Zbigniew Brzezinski, and many others not named here are all heavily idolized by Barack Obama for their revolutionary ideas for change.

The term "group think" was coined by social psychologist Irving Janis in 1972. It occurs when a group makes faulty decisions because group pressures lead to a deterioration of “mental efficiency, reality testing, and moral judgment."

Groups affected by "group think" ignore alternatives and tend to take irrational actions that dehumanize other groups.

A group is especially vulnerable to groupthink when its members are similar in background, when the group is insulated from outside opinions, and when there are no clear rules for decision making.

The negative outcomes of "group think" include:

Examining few alternatives Not being critical of each other's ideas

Not examining early alternatives Not seeking expert opinion

Being highly selective in gathering information Not having contingency plans

Irving Janis documented eight symptoms of group think:

1. Illusion of invulnerability - Creates excessive optimism that encourages taking extreme risks.

2. Collective rationalization – Members discount warnings and do not reconsider their assumptions.

3. Belief in inherent morality – Members believe in the rightness of their cause and therefore ignore the ethical or moral consequences of their decisions.

4. Stereotyped views of out-groups – Negative views of “enemy” make effective responses to conflict seem unnecessary.

5. Direct pressure on dissenters – Members are under pressure not to express arguments against any of the group’s views.

6. Self-censorship – Doubts and deviations from the perceived group consensus are not expressed.

7. Illusion of unanimity – The majority view and judgments are assumed to be unanimous.

8. Self-appointed ‘mind guards’ – Members protect the group and the leader from information that is problematic or contradictory to the group’s cohesiveness, view, and, or decisions.

Examples of "group think fiascoes” studied by Irving Janis in America include US failures to anticipate the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Bay of Pigs invasion, the escalation of Vietnam war, and the ill-fated hostage rescue in Iran.

In order to avoid a "group think" disaster in Iraq, the Bush administration finally went outside the lines and consulted those who don't fall prey to group think and the "surge plan" was the result.

So please, remind me again which candidate for President supported the surge?

It was the same guy who confirmed his maverick status, went way outside the lines, reached out to conservative voters, gun owners, evangelical Christians, supporters of Israel, Reagan Democrats, "Drill Here/Drill Now  voters", and Hillary voters by making a very non-group think choice for VP by choosing Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska... that man's name is Senator John McCain.
